“Best Ribs Anywhere”
Reviewed January 15, 2012

D Magazine named Off the Bone the best ribs in Dallas despite the fact that the restaurant is in Fort Worth. Our college-age daughter is a picky eater who doesn't care for barbecue. She ate half a rack of ribs all by herself and wanted more. That is high praise.

“BBQ - Texas & Memphis Styles Collide”
Reviewed November 12, 2011

I found out about "Off The Bone" BBQ from an article in D magazine that rated this as one of the best BBQ places in the area. I personally think there BBQ is a nice cross between Texas standards with some Memphis soul.

This is an authentic Texas road side dive by the looks and their BBQ is really good. The St. Louis cut ribs are dry rubbed but they offer a nice sweet/tangy sauce at the table. Adding the sauce really combines the flavors of Memphis and Texas.

All orders are placed at the counter and your food is brought to your table. Each BBQ plate comes with two sides and Texas toast. All of the standards that you'd expect to find. Plates are about $10. However, the do offer sandwich plates with one side item. Good sweet tea as well. I've been a few times and will continue to stop in for lunch. Don't go for the decor go for the ribs.

Yo can read the article online here: http://www.dmagazine.com/Home/D_Magazine/2010/February/The_Best_Barbecue_in_Dallas.aspx

“Worth an out-of-the-way drive”
Reviewed October 19, 2011

I've eaten here twice and don't hesitate to anoint 4 worthy stars on this bbq. In both cases, the ribs have been a 5+ - meaty, moist, flavorful with fat rendered to melt-in-your-mouth perfection. The brisket (one visit only) while very tasty, was a little little dry, although there was an ample amount of rendered fat along the edge. Both had a wonderful smokiness. On my second visit, I ordered the sausage. It was on the cold side of tepid and probably would have fared/tasted better had it been much warmer - as it was, it seemed a little greasy, although the casing had a nice snap. Other than the nice smoke flavor, I didn't get much from the sausage itself.

As to the sides, by my standard, the mac 'n cheese is remarkable, made with actual cheese rather than the processed stuff. The green beans on one occasion were very well seasoned, on my return, not so much so. I was non-plused by both the fried okra and french fries.

Dinner plate pricing is typical, but the portions are very generous. Off the Bone is located in SE FW at the inside corner where I20 merges with 820. Given our mediocre to bad state of BBQ offerings in the metroplex, this place is more than worth the drive regardless of you (metro) starting location.
