“Wow, You will love it.. !!!!!!”

From researching Family History at the Museums, Public Library and City Hall to the people and Restuarants the entire experience was amazing. Just ask the locals for the best place's and you will not be sorry. We had rented an RV and were traveling through Mass. Found a seafood market on the edge of town and purchased Lobster Bisk, Clam Chowder, Fresh cooked Shrimp with homemade sause, Lobster Rolls and the best crab salad I have ever had for $30 then enjoyed it along the way for 4 day's. The people were so helpful and willing to point us in the right direction for we were a little out of our element being from the West Coast. Will be back for another trip when time permits.

I had not expected much. An old town, broken down , drab museum, and dangerous, they said. What?! This is a marvelous town that is building, rebuilding, keeping its seafaring character but looking spanking new. The museum is bright and so very interesting giving a great flavor of what life was like and how this multicultural gem developed as well as showing what whaling was like with a real half life sized replica of a whaling ship and the life size real sperm whale skeleton. As for safety, returning in the dark, there were many police officers about and no scary looking people. Hey, this is better than Mystic.
I attended the Summerfest, primarily to see folk singer Susan Werner and was not dissapointed with her great performances as well as that many other folk singers . A drive around town led me to a lovely park overlooking the water with a great view of a lighthouse. What was once an industrial town after the whaling days, has turned many of those fascinating factories into nicely landscaped higher tech businesses. In New Bedford you can feel a part history.
Stayed at The Melville House B & B, clean, welcoming and serving the best home made pastries as well as freshly picked fruit.
