We have visited twice for lunch. We have been exploring the appetizer menu so far. We found the sauce for the Spanish mussels pretty bland but loved the sauce on the shrimp Mozambique. Loved the batter on the calamari but found the squid rings a little tough. Enjoyed the croquettes and the stuffed quahog. There are a lot of items on the menu I want to try. We will be back for dinner.

Fantastic food with a wide variety of meat, chicken and seafood in a variety of beautifully spiced house sauces, friendly staff and a full bar will keep us coming back. With many good Portuguese restaurants in the region, we put Antonio's at the top of list. Bring an appetite-portions are generous and you'll want to try everything! This is a great choice for something a little different!

I'm sure we're not alone is loving this homey restaurant in the seaport town of New Bedford. We had lunch there yesterday, four of us, my spouse and his sister and husband. They had been here before and raved. We loved the comfortable decor and friendly welcome and service. The bar was packed (even at 2pm) with locals and regulars, a companionable group of friendly folks. The restaurant was very clean and service was prompt and very friendly. We ordered the fried calamari for an appetizer; it arrived five minutes later, piping hot with a horseradish and some red ingredient dipping sauce that was luscious (so we asked for more and it came immediately). The order was not that large, but it was delicious and served with hot yellow peppers. For lunch, I ordered the short ribs with round fried potatoes. The plate was so full, I could barely see across the table. The short ribs were fork tender and the rich gravy was magnificent ... they had obviously been cooking a long time. Despite the size of the order, I ate all the five ribs, and that was a feat! My companions ordered fish and chips, a HUGE order and incrediblly delicious; the Shrimp Mozambique (the saffron Mozambique sauce was out of this world. So much so that we ALL were dipping into the sauce from the bountiful bread basket).

The meat stew with shrimp was fabulous, the gravy was rich and dark and had a little spice to it with a mountain of fried sliced potatoes. We were positively stuffed. The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating but the real star here is the cuisine. It is incredible ... we cannot wait to go back! The restaurant takes NO CREDIT CARDS, but there is an ATM on site.

Antonios continues to consistently serve the best Portuguese fare. We have never gotten a bad meal here and pretty much order our favorites everytime . Their sauces so flavorful, portions so generous . Don't waste your time on fried seafood, savor the subtle flavors of a hearty meal. Lamb chops also a big surprise ! For a side dish tried their fried potaote chips ,never greasy or soggy. We have tried the "others' in the area and keep coming back to Antonios. Come as you are not formal but very comfortable and clean .
