“Best Bacalau-a-Braz in New Bedford... or Lisbon”
Reviewed November 27, 2011

Heard about this place through friends. You have to pass through the bar to get into the dining area... which is typical in Portuguese digs.... so you get quickly used the scrutiny of glassy eyed people with more interest in their bottle than anything else. We were suggested to order the Bacalau-a-Braz and couldn't have been told better. Its a blend of soaked salt cod, with onions, potatoes and eggs on a heaping plate with a side of olives, white cheese and bread.
It was simply the best version I ever had of this meal, both in Lisbon or in the US. The cook must have let it crisp up on a large skillet because it came to our table with crunchy and crispy bits and tons of flavor, yet the eggs were still soft and warm. Would definitely suggest this to anyone who would compare it to the Lisbon eateries who specialize in this stuff.

“Good Portuguese food and good service!”
Reviewed September 8, 2010

Special order hot olive oil with garlic to use with the bread instead of butter. My only complaint was that the bread was not fresh.

“Great food at a great price”
Reviewed March 10, 2010

This is the type of restaurant that you go to for the food and not the frills. It's a real jewel. My husband and I are regular customers. It's great Portuguese food at a very affordable price. The service is good and the wine and beer are reasonably priced. The dessert selection is not the best, but again I go to Mimo for the great food and nothing else. If you're looking for romantic atmosphere and fancy desserts this is not the place.

“Good food, little atmosphere”
Reviewed September 20, 2009

Authentic food prepared well. Worth going there. Wine was reasonably priced. I highly recomend the Chicken Mozambique with 5 shrimp. The sauce is thicker than what I have had at other restaurants and had just the right abount of spice. I really liked it.

“"No frills" real Portuguese food”
Reviewed April 6, 2009

Have been there many times and always delighted. Their "day cheese" with crushed red peppers and a Portuguese Pop is a real treat, especially followed by fish soup. Authentic cuisine just like the Azores.
