Long time local favorite. Seafood anyway you can imagine it. One of only a few restaurants directly on the water.

“Fresh seafood but don't expect much otherwise.”
Reviewed July 20, 2013

Nice location in the city of New Bedford, on the waterfront in the south end of the city. On a nice day it is lovely with a beautiful view of the ocean, Butler Flats lighthouse and the hurricane gates that guard this area from the rest of the ocean. Davy's is known for it's fresh seafood. I most recently had the seafood casserole and enjoyed it immensely. A person in my party had the chicken primavera (for non-seafood lovers) and said it was wonderful - ample portion. Service was adequate but nothing to write home about. A fly roamed about but perhaps that couldn't be helped given the proximity to their outdoor section. My wine glass had a previous lipstick stain on it but perhaps that was attention to detail on the part of the waitstaff? Could happen most anywhere. The restaurant has an odd smell buy perhaps that is the fresh seafood? Prices are fair ($2.50 for a beer). Gave a decent 20% tip in spite of it all and the waiter never said thank you. Possibly since two in our party (ten of us) needed to linger and finish their after dinner drinks? Have not visited the outside tiki bar but it looks fun although seems to be a popular spot with bikers. Good luck!

“Suprisingly good food!”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

We were lucky enough to grab a table on the roof deck the evening of the 4th of July and were able to watch no fewer than six fireworks displays in the distance across Buzzards Bay. That was pretty cool.
But more importantly the food was surprisingly good. That may have been due to low expectations, but whatever the reason it worked for us.
We got onion rings, clam chowder and onion soup for appetizers. The rings were a little heavy, but otherwise tasty with a golden, crunchy fried batter and tender sweet onions.
The chowder had a silky, creamy texture and the clams were tender. My wife, the chowder lover, said it was very good.
The onion soup was delicious. Plenty of melty gooey cheese cooked onto the soup and the broth itself had excellent color and flavor - just the right blend of sweet and herbal savory. Oddly, there was no crouton under the cheese, so that was a drag, but otherwise, it was excellent.
My wife had the fried clam platter and I had a bacon cheeseburger. Her plate was too big for her to finish. Apparently lots of bellies on the plate and the tartar sauce was excellent.
My burger was just OK, though it came on a Portuguese roll, which was a nice suprise. i believe it was a frozen patty, which nowadays bums me out. but the bacon was thick and generously portioned and the onions were nicely sauteed.
We didn't have the chicken and pasta primavera, but were told by another customer that it was spectacular. It looked very good, with lots of fresh veg and a good looking mornay-type sauce.
Drinks were fairly priced and service, while on the slow side, was fairly attentive, good-natured and helpful. We attributed the slowness of service to the packed restaurant and the 80-degree steambox our waitress had to battle climbing up and down the stairs all night.
