we visited family in New Bedford. the hype was about visiting Boston. we had one evening and we used TripAdvisor to search for close by places and came across this fort. its a beautiful place for an evening stroll. as most forts, the inside is not accessible. but you can walk around. it also has a long pier with a catch and release fishing option. the fish in that area is apparently contaminated and should not be consumed. most of this place is easily wheelchair accessible and kids enjoy the semi-rough climbing on the rocks etc. the museum is small but very informative. it is open from 1-4pm only. Overall it is a good place to spend an evening if you are in the area.
