“INCREDIBLE!!!”
Reviewed December 12, 2009

The resort was awesome, great ocean view, friendly staff who would go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable!! Sure the food is pricey but where in maui is it not. Rent a car(free self parking) and drive to big beach in Makena~ AWESOME!!!

get a bananna split at Ko restaurant---not on menu but excellent, had one every other night for two weeks!!

I would go back in a heartbeat..no complaints and we travel a lot...great pool, good beach, exceptional service and great ocean view room!!

Fairmont Kea Lani, which I found out translated to white heaven just blew me away. It was a beautiful hotel in Maui and when my husband and I return to Maui, we will definitely stay here again.

From the moment you drive up to the hotel to the moment you reach your room, you will be blown away by the service. We were offered mango/guava juice and cold face towels to cool off and promptly brought up to our suite. The lobby and basically the whole hotel is open except for your room. Everytime we left the hotel, we were greeted by our names and in a friendly manner. Staff even came by after the first night to our suite to make sure everything was ok.

I have nothing bad to say about this hotel at all. Everything from the size of the suites, pools, service, cleanliness, gardens and centerpieces all over the hotel were beautiful. The only thing I wasn't impressed with was the beach. It was really small, but that's ok. Not a big deal.

Also, I love the fact that internet, laundry and self parking was free. Love the Italian bakery downstairs too. Great lattes and sandwiches.

My husband and I had a wonderful time! If you decide to stay in Fairmont Kea Lani, we hope you will have an excellent time as well.

My wife and I, with children, stayed at the Fairmont over Thanksgiving. We chose this hotel based on the reviews on this site. Unfortunately, we were not as charmed as many of the other guest-reviewers.

Pros: Very convenient and excellent beach. Fantastic weather. These are features of Maui, however, not the Fairmont in particular. The resort grounds are open and not as crowded as some of the neighboring hotels.

Cons: The furniture in our room (ocean view) was old and knicked. This is not "Hawaiian natural," it is just plain old. The upholstery on the couch was noticeably stained, and the carpet was dingy. The mattresses are not best of class, left us sore. The elevators to our level were shabby, with exposed electronics and soiled walls and floors. There is evidence of deferred maintenance throughtout the facility.

Although the locale is great, this is not a romantic resort. The grounds, while open, are much too crowded by sunning adults and playing children. The adult's only pool looks boring.

Finally, most irksome is the high cost for every item here. Of course we expect exaggerated prices at a Hawaiian resort. The prices seem whimsical, elevated inventions: $12.50 for the simplest drink, $100 for a simple snack for the family; the examples are endless. This is just greed.

We just returned from our trip to Maui & Oahu. If you've never been to either - pass on Oahu - yuck! Maui is much quieter and the people much friendlier. Anyways! My husband & I were very impressed with the friendliness and courtesy of the staff at the Fairmont. Everyone said hello and with a smile and whenever we had a question, folks were happy to help. Our room was clean and bigger than we thought it'd be. We also liked that they had an adult only pool. Only thing we thought was silly was that for the price of the room, they should've included the internet connection instead of charging extra for that. Would recommend this hotel.

Just finished a seven night stay for Thanksgiving week. Great room, great service and spectacular times on the beach and at the pool. Our kids loved the waterslide. On our last day a monk seal decided to nap on the beach. Great photo op. The TV's need a little updating but we did not come to Maui to watch TV! We loved the suite type room for parental privacy after the little ones conked out after a full day of swimming and boogie boarding. Be sure to dine at the General Store and Roy's in Kahana.

My wife and I came here to celebrate my birthday. We wanted to do it right and we chose the Fairmont. We've not had a single regret. We had a gorgeous and large suite with a direct, full view of the Pacific, seven stories up! We had a very large lanai where we took our breakfast each morning, beautifully set up by the room service staff. There is NOTHING about the Fairmont that is not first class: from the exquisite suites to the fantastic restaurants to the huge and meandering swimming pools to the perfectly manicured lawns. It is the perfect place to totally escape from the world and to feel as if you have entered the Garden of Eden. Our ONLY regret was having to leave. We will DEFINITELY be back!

I have stayed at this hotel four times since Fairmont took over. Room service is appallingly slow. This happens every trip. Right now I have been waiting for a sandwich for over 75 minutes. Calls result in brainless apologies.
The movie system reboots at random. Same thing happened last year.
This hotel has possibilities but it desperately needs better staff or better management.
