Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui

We bought a vacation pkg which includes flight, the Fairmont deluxe ocean view suite and car rental under a tremendous price. We were excited to stay here given all the glowing reviews and I agree with the others this is one of the best places to stay at Maui and certainly at Wailea. Granted the distance to Lahaina is a 45 minute drive but I find the sunset is more beautiful on this part of the resort town and quieter.

We got a corner deluxe ocean view suite which was massive and we get to see the sunset from our balcony and plenty of sun during the day. Each room at Fairmont is a suite so you have a bedroom and living with each having a large screen TV. The bathroom is massive with double sicks, a deep soak tub and a shower, and its own enclosed toilet. We stayed on the south side of the resort which is next to a yard with some construction work but it didn't bother us and the windows are fairly sound proof. The room has excellent amenities including a microwave, a fridge, an electric teapot and a coffee maker. Housekeeping restock towels and supplies every morning and evening at turndown service. The ceiling fans add a nice touch to the suite that can cool you down in addition to the AC.

The resort property is phenomenal with its own private beach and beach umbrellas and lounge chairs are easily available. The sunset at the beach was definitely special as it's unobstructed from the ocean. There's an adult pool which is nice but the kids pool have a water slide which is fun and they also have 2 whirlpools and an additional pool which connects to the pool bar so you can swim right up to have a cocktail. They also offer various activities for adults and kids. The gym is well equipped and can get busy. We ate at Ko and Nick's Fishmarket for dinners, as well as one morning for the breakfast buffet (very well stocked for $34/person), and we also had snacks at Luana lounge. Food is excellent and prices are comparable to New York (i.e. not cheap, e.g. $30-50/entree), but we found at Maui other nice restaurants charge similar prices anyway.

We each had a 90 minute medium tissue massage at The Willow Spa and it was absolutely a highlight. The massage therapists were outstanding and definitely one of the best ones I've had, and I've had regular massages in the past. The steam room and sauna inside the spa are nice also.

If you don't have late checkout, they offer a hopsitality suite (one of their regular rooms) to shower and freshen up so you can still enjoy a full day of beach and pool before your evening flight.

The $30/day resort fee is extra and includes self parking (lots of spots), internet, bottled water, use of gym and facilities, etc. If you're Fairmont president's club member you get a few extra perks and sign-up online is free.

In summary, if you plan to stay at Wailea definitely consider the Fairmont. I find the balconies nicer than the Four Seasons next door with a panoramic view and the property is more casual and relaxed than the Four Seasons (which we had dinner at Spago there and definitely the clientele there is more Hollywood). With a vacation package deal you could save >$3k on total cost so definitely worth staying here. I'd recommend my friends to stay here if they want to be at Wailea. We also checked out the Lahaina area with Hyatt, Marriott and Westin; they had a nice long stretch of beach but during spring break it was definitely more crowded and noisy than the Wailea properties.

Room Tip: If you can get a Deluxe or Regular Ocean View Suite; try to find a vacation package that offers a lo...

We stayed here for four days early March 2014 and were upgraded upon check in due to an issue with our room not being ready - the staff were quick to respond and professional. Our upgrade was a sea view suite and our stay was absolutely wonderful and we would certainly come back again.
Only issue is food is very expensive but you are in a resort in Wailea!

Room Tip: Some rooms we saw looked over the car park so watch for this.

The Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui was wonderful from the minute we arrived and had gorgeous leis hung around our necks. I found all staff to provide excellent customer service. The villas are nice, like a condo. The suites are grand and have everything you need. The restaurants are all great, so is room service. The waves were too big for us to snorkel from the hotel beach, but they provide everything right there - snorkel, fins, boogie boards. The beach is beautiful at the Fairmont. There is a very nice walkway with a beautiful view that leads to Four Seasons. For lunch! I had the best massage ever at their brand new spa. Love that they have environmentally friendly practices.

Room Tip: I wouldn't bother getting a view or partial view from a suite.Just go down to the beach.

This property is exceptional with all the amenities that you would expect in a 5 star resort. The grounds are colorful, there are 3 great pools, 3 restaurants and a bistro and this is an all suites hotel which features a large bedroom (King bed), a living room area with a pull out sofa bed, televisions and a variety of connections, a large balcony, and an exceptionally large bathroom. We travelled with our daughter and son-in law and to save some dollars (+$600 US /day) we all stayed in one suite. It was comfortable and large enough that we were not stumbling over each other and the bathroom was not a problem to share. The sofa bed however, did not have a premium mattress and had to ask for crate foam to avoid having to feel the springs in the mattress. They also had a great fitness room - best I've seen to date. Service at the hotel was excellent as they were all very responsive, attentive, and accommodating. Ko and Nick's Fish Market are the two fine dining restaurants on the property and feature exceptional menus and wine lists. See review for Nicks. The hotel has a shuttle service that includes transportation to the other resorts and restaurants in the area. They also have shuttle service as far south to Makena Beach which was fantastic. Overall a great stay.

Room Tip: Ocean view rooms on upper floors are exceptional. Wing on furthest south side of the property will g...

Aloha and thank you for your wonderful review! We're so happy that you enjoyed your stay and found the hotel's large suites perfect for your family vacation. However, we do apologize that you found the sofa bed to be uncomfortable. We don't hear this often, but have shared your feedback with the team to ensure the comfort of future guests. We appreciate your kind comments about the staff and look forward to welcoming you back very soon. Mahalo and best wishes.

This was a beautiful property where we found everything we needed and more. Our family of seven stayed a week, some of us in suites and some in one of the villas. We ate at each of the restaurants on the property, and spent time in the spa, pool cabanas, and shops. Some of our family tried the yoga class, others went on the cultural tour. We made many, many inquiries at the concierge desk. All the staff we encountered were professional, friendly, and willing to help us with whatever we needed. Not having to worry about the details allowed us to relax and focus on our time together as a family.

I had called ahead to put myself on the allergy plan for meals, and came with medication just in case. I was so pleased not to need it, as my meals were carefully prepared with regard to my needs. When we had dinner reservations, our wait staff were prepared before I even mentioned the allergies.

The concierge staff were especially helpful with our departure. After we had received some conflicting information from other staff as to the procedure for sending some items home via FedEx, Patty helped us sort it all out on the morning of our departure. I am happy to say that everything we shipped arrived at our home promptly and in good condition.

We will be thinking of the Fairmont Kea Lani often, and hope to return soon.

Room Tip: We had a garden room on the ground floor. It had a decent view, but not ocean at all. The room was v...

Sometimes luxury is experience not just lavish style. Its hard to explain or put in words about the experience I had in fairmont maui. Apart from location, rooms, facilities what impressed me most was the way hotel and its staff served us. My every single and minute requirement were taken care of. Hotel staff not only dropped us at nearby location multiple times but also chauffer assured tat we give call for pick up when done.No matter u are sitting in room or near sea side in full day or middle of night you will get service for any requirment.

I am greatful and thankful to fairmont for making my first trip of hawai an awesome experience.

Easily the best hotel on Maui, as I have stayed in almost all of them. Everything was top notch. The only thing they could improve on is maybe keeping the pool/hot tub area cleaner. And also, knowing kids will be running up the walkways to the top of the waterslide, put some kind of slip proof mat or something.
