Reviewed February 26, 2014 via mobile

We had just one night at the Kea Lani as we own a condo in West Maui & were just celebrating our anniversary. What a great place to go! It is very expensive, although in line with the prices at all Wailea resorts, but it was so amazing.
I'm in the Fairmont Presidents Club so we had very special treatment, like the separate check-in desk, where Donna (a wonderful employee) gave us a nice upgrade and a late check-out the next day.
Food at Koa was delicious. The cabana we rented was great, the pool service as excellent.
Our room was spacious ( they're all suites), the bed & linens so luxurious, the bathroom large & full of amenities.
We were brought a bottle of champagne and two towels were turned into lovely swans with orchids on our bed when we came in from our evening out.
Spectacular views, impeccable service, and a beautiful resort.

Maui is a beautiful place anyway, but the Fairmont is really just about perfect. Our beds were heavenly soft, the restaurants and room service delicious, and the poolside cabana service really spectacular. Rent a cabana because it includes a personal cooler of water, soft drinks, and scented body mist. You will also be served a large fruit platter with some really great mango. I really can't even report a piece of bruised fruit on the breakfast buffet. Just wonderful. The spa has a eucalyptus steam room and a series of 3 showers that mimic the scents and sensations of different Hawaiian rain showers.

We spent 3 nights at the Fairmont Kea Lani in February 2014. The whole experience was great. Our flight to Maui arrived at 9 am - so we went straight to property to find out what time we could check in. Normally check in is at 4 pm - but they called us on my cell at noon and told us the room was ready. Everyone we ran into on the property treated us well. We had a room with the balcony that wrapped around a corner - the room and views were perfect! I wasn't sure if we should spend the extra $$ on the bigger room - but it was worth it. The location of the hotel itself is great - the beach was just the right size and never busy. We walked up and down the path along the ocean - the other properties next to the Fairmont were definitely not as nice - the Four Seasons seemed small and cramped - and the two hotels north of that had beaches that were much smaller and more crowded.
Food on the property was the only thing we could find a complaint about. Everything on the property was very expensive - any meal for the 4 of us ran between $100 and $150. The breakfast buffet was good - nothing to complain about as far as the food available - but once again expensive - $35 per person. We went to the Ko restaurant as well - same thing - the food was good but very expensive. Overall - we will definitely stay here again - the views and hospitality of everyone we ran into at the Fairmont were great!!

Room Tip: The rooms with the wrap around balconies offer great views and sun all day.

We spent a week in a villa in feb 2014. All around fantastic.

Experience was great from the start. Pulled in, dropped the family and the bags, by the time i parked the car and walked back to the lobby (NOT far) we were checked in... hopped directly into a golf cart, and did a little tour and dropped us off. We got in our 6pm, and they asked us if we had dinner plans (we didn't), they went ahead and made us dinner reservations at Ko.

Villa was perfect.. ocean view, plenty of space, nice kitchen/dining/family room space. The resort provided a bunch of fruit, bottomless juice, water, tea, coffee, etc.

Pool was nice, if a bit small. Was fine for us, but i imagine if the resort was real full space could be tight. Slide was nice for the kid. He made friends to play with hanging around the slide. The grounds have a couple nice grass areas... one with chairs for people who don't want to be around the pool... one between the beach and the villas which was a nice spot for kids to run around... saw several impromptu frisbee/football/soccer games... nice touch.

Concierge desk was fantastic... gave us a bunch of good recommendations and handled all the booking, etc... but, even better, our son lost a teddy bear and they took care of calling the airline, rental car, etc to try to track it down. very nice.

We ate at Ko one night, and had room service a couple others... food was good... probably a bit pricey, but didn't seem crazy for maui...

Beach was nice... varied from fairly calm to decent waves to boogie board/body surf. Easy walk north along a trail to adjacent resorts and beaches for a change of scenery.

We spent a few nights here in Feb 2014 and had a wonderful time. The rooms were clean and comfortable and had all the extras you could ask for (and a few you wouldn't think to ask for). The resort is wonderful and the staff friendly and helpful. The free shuttle bus was a godsend for us and allowed us an easy time to and from our early morning diving trip in nearby Kihei. Definitely a resort to stay at if you're in Maui.

This is a very busy location and the room we were given the first night was so noisy we got only 4 hours of sleep. There are nice "extra's" offered, like at most Fairmont Hotels, but I would not stay there again. The breakfast menu was very overpriced. Ko's for dinner was tasty and we had excellent service. Hotel staff are all very helpful other than the front desk person on the first day who changed our booked room for some reason and gave us instead room 164. This room is directly over the kitchen doors and walkways the noise stopped after 1:30pm and started up again at 5:30 am. Rooms need some updating but are clean. The second room they gave us on the 6th floor was much quieter! Pools are nice but crowded and beach area is good. This hotel seems more like a place for corporate destinations than a family relaxation holiday.

Room Tip: Do not get anything near the centre of the hotel on the lower levels. Very noisy!

While we're pleased that you enjoyed Kō and the excellent service from our staff, we apologize for the noise you encountered from your suite. We are truly sorry that this left you disappointed and negatively impacted your vacation. Please be assured that the vast majority of our guests are leisure travelers, many of which are families. We do hope you will consider joining us again in the future so we can deliver the five star experience for which we are known. Best wishes and warm aloha.

We spent 9 nights at the Fairmont the beginning of February. This was our 3rd time to the Hawaiian Islands, but first time on Maui.

The rooms are all suites and they are huge. My husband and I were very impressed with the rooms. Bathroom was huge and we both loved the line of shampoo/conditioner etc. We had an ocean view, but the resort is set far back from beach, so we couldn't hear the sounds of the ocean and we really missed that, but that seems to be how all the resorts are in Wailea. The room had a lani off of bedroom & living room. Beds were very comfortable.
We loved all the pools at the resort. Never had a problem getting a chair near one of pools. The pool side service was great. We ate lunch there everyday we were at the resort. Food is expensive, but you are in Wailea, so its to be expected. Breakfast buffet is terrific. So much to chose from. Even have a gluten free area for those who are in need. We also ate at Nick's Fish Market and we loved it!!!!!

The beach is small. We prefer a large beach that we can walk, but there is a nice paved walking path above the beach that will take you to all the resorts. We enjoyed walking that, although its narrow. There seem to be plenty of beach chairs, but they were not as comfortable as the pool chairs, so we always set up by the pool and walked down to beach when we wanted.

The fitness center was small for the size of resort. We had a few rainy mornings, so everybody was in the fitness center because being outside was not really optimal. We had to wait for equipment. When we could be outside, there is a nice wide sidewalk for running/walking outside of the front of resort. Nice inclines that add a little extra to your workout.

We really enjoyed some of the little touches that set this class of resorts apart. These include sunscreen and aloe at all of the pools, cold water at pools, pool attendants who offer a cold towel around 11:30 and pineapple slices twice a day. They also had apples in the workout room and headphones for the audio visual systems on the cardio machines if you didn't have your own.
All of the staff were very helpful and they offer a shuttle to and from the other resorts in the area and the Shops of Wailea.

We did a really cool activity in Hana. We went power hang gliding and it was AMAZING!!!! I will be reviewing in separately here on trip advisor. It was called Hang Glide Maui and I highly recommend it. I am not a very adventurous person, but this I had to try and would do it again.
We loved our stay here and would recommend it to anyone. Can't wait to go back!!!
