This trip was not planned very far inadvance, so we picked the Fairmont, mainly because they had a room available. From the moment we arrived ultil our departure our experence was better than we could have imagined. From the greeting as we dropped off the car, to the room upgrade, to finding that every room is a marvelous suite our experience was wonderful. The grounds are beautifuly laid out and every person connected with the hotel seemed bent on making us feel welcome. The daily room rate is higher than we would usually spend, but after considering all that was included, and the beautiful surroundings and care, I feel that it is a good value. We will hope to come back again.

Room Tip: Each room has bedroom, and seperate living room, along with a bathroom larger than some hotel rooms...

We stayed at the Fairmont in Wailea for 6 days in January/February and couldn't have been happier with the hotel. Waliea is a beautiful area with several resorts, an outdoor shopping mall, and tons of restaurants. The Fairmont has a shuttle that will take you anywhere and pick you up in Wailea upon request-the staff at the valet desk is super efficient and happy to help you. Overall, the staff at the Fairmont are happy to accommodate any request you have any never act as if your request is a bother, which I have found at other properties. The grounds at the Fairmont are extremely well-maintained; there are an abundance of beach and pool chairs as well as towels. They are constantly maintaining the pool and beach areas and picking up stray towels. In the afternoon they come around the pool and beach with sliced pineapple which is a nice touch.

Both restaurants are very good although in my opinion Ko was much better. We ate both lunch and dinner there and were very satisified with the food. A tip - restaurants at the hotel and in Wailea in general seem to favor an earlier dinner service - last reservation is usually by 9 pm so be mindful if you tend to be someone who prefers a later dinner.

Overall I would highly reccommend this property - it is a bit pricer than some of the other resorts in Maui (Westin, Hyatt, etc), but worth the cost and is a truly special stay. Also you can book packages that include breakfast or give you a $100 resort credit/day that make the cost more managable.

Room Tip: We were originally place in a ground floor room where the balcony opened up to the street; we reques...

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at the Fairmont for our Honeymoon from Jan 26-Feb 1. Upon arrival, the place was breathtaking and we were welcomed with open arms, leis, and a delicious juice cocktail. We were also upgraded to an even better suite a couple days after arrival at no charge! We went out to zip line (recommended by the hotel) and arrived back to our items moved into our new room (we left our items packed in the room by the front door). It was so nice to not have to move ourselves! The restaurants, room, pools, gym all were very clean. It was the ultimate relaxing environment! The concierge was also helpful. In particular was Rusti. We rented a car and I would definitely recommend that, but for short trips, the hotel offers a car free of charge to help you get around.

Room Tip: ask for an upgrade, if they have it available even after you check in they will move you and they do...

After 2 years, we returned to the Kea Lani. We'd booked 7 nights through Costco travel - which seems like a more affordable way to do this. As we were celebrating our 10 yr anniversary, the hotel did 2 nice things:
1) upgraded our room from a partial ocean view to a deluxe ocean view room (same room as last time)
2) delivered cupcakes shortly after our arrival.

The hotel is really beautiful and extremely comfortable. The suite is ideal with kids as you can put them to bed and then close the door so that you can still have an evening. The pools and beach is fantastic if you want to stay close. The hotel is incredibly expensive, though, so if you want to eat there, it can cost a not-so-small fortune. Even the deli is ridiculous.

Some points to consider:
- Parking is now a cool $15/day
- if you get the buffet, consider not doing it for every day....as although it's nice, it's not necessary every day.

Room Tip: As some rooms are smoking, the HVAC in non-smoking rooms still makes your non-smoking room smell lik...

Just returned from a 2 week vacation to Hawaii. We spent 10 nights at the Kea Lani. We arrived early in the day due to flight times so we tried to get an early check in but that wasn't available. The staff at this Fairmont were very friendly and allowed us to use a room to change into our swim wear and use the pools/beach until our room was ready. The good service continued throughout our trip.

I had booked golf clubs through the presidents club program and had no issues getting them every day I had booked, and even an extra day when I felt like going to the driving range. The hotel just got the new Taylor Made Rocketblades club sets and they were a dream to play with.

The 3 pools at the Kea Lani were all very nice. Swim up bar was small but the waitresses were usually pretty good at making the rounds to bring drinks every 20 - 30 minutes. Daily drink specials on beer and a slushy drink, changing every day. This deal helps quite a bit as it brought a different $15 drink down to $10 every day.

The breakfast buffet was incredible 10/10 days. If you are going to stay here for an extended period of time I highly recommend buying the meal plan with the room. All said and done it was just as I expected when staying at a Fairmont. I would stay here again given the chance . At $600 a night for a room looking at the parking lot tho I won't have the chance again for a while . Travelled Jan. 25 - Feb 4 2013

We had a wonderful time at the Fairmont. Service was great, the rooms were nicely appointed and the breakfast buffet was never disappointing. The view from the room that we had was breathtaking. Valet service was prompt, we never had to wait more than 5 minutes for our car. I had a facial while I was there and it was a very pleasant experience and definitely worth the money. Maui may not be my favorite island by the Fairmont may be one of my favorite hotels.

We started an annual trip last year and stayed at the Ritz in Kapalua, and decided to stay in Wailea, since my husband had not stayed on that side of the island yet.
We booked a partial ocean view room and stayed in 311; if the room would have been higher, we would have had a better partial view, but a large tree kept it from being what we consider a partial ocean view...you kind of had to position your chair just right on the balcony to see it; in fact, the other couple traveling with us had a standard category room and had just about the same view! View aside, the rooms were nice (although did show a little wear and tear on the walls/carpeting), the king beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were very spacious. The refrigerator is a welcome amenity with those of us that like a glass of wine in our room before dinner. The housekeeping team was fantastic and we found our room spotless each day. The service at bar was outstanding, try a Lotus Blossom...YUM! We had dinner at Ko one night and found it to be good, but not as good as we thought it would be...we have been all over the island and there are other better places; it wasn't bad, just didn't feel it was worth the price tag that came along with it...would much rather at Merriman's, The Banyan Tree at the Ritz or Spago at Four Seasons. The part of the hotel that turns it from a five-star experience to about a four-star experience is the pool experience. The adults only pool is covered in towels as early as 8am and although they were happy to enforce the "2 hour rule" at the kiddy pools and lawn chairs, it didn't seem to matter there...We were there an entire week and never stepped foot in the adult pool--even though neither couple has children, because of the towel saving situation. In addition, while we were there, there was only one server for the entire area downstairs (there's another pool area at the top of the bar poolside) area, which consisted of the adults only pool and the entire family friendly pool. When being charged $15 per drink, $20 for quesadillas...one expects more efficient service. The servers once we nailed them down, were very pleasant and they couldn't help that they were pulled in many directions, it just didn't make for the most optimal pool experience. If you're into spa services, they really have an above average team of professionals in their spa; we had a couples massage at the beach and it was FANTASTIC!!! All in all, it was a good experience and I would definitely stay here again. I have stayed next door at the Four Seasons in the past and although the Kea Lani is less expensive, the rooms are just as nice...besides, when you're in Maui, are you really there for the room you're staying in or the beautiful views? Kea Lani's views are fabulous!

Room Tip: If you get a partial view, get a high floor or get a full view...our partial view wasn't that g...
