Stayed again at the Four Seasons Maui. The facilities are wonderful. All of the employees are outstanding. We continue to come back 3-4 times per year and have done so since 2005. The Spago's restaurant has great food, a fantastic view, and knowledgeable wait staff. There are 3 pools (one adults only, one children, and one mixed use with two spas). The weather in Wailea is the best on Maui.

Room Tip: Many of the garden rooms are actually partial ocean view rooms.

We spent the 3rd-10th of Sept on our honeymoon. Despite the adults only pool being closed the duration of our stay we couldn't have asked for a better trip.
We had an ocean view room & the room & views were perfection! The location of the property is just incredible with calm waters & a beautiful white sand beach. The staff is just incredible!! The little touches just topped everything off! Honeymoon champagne welcomed us to our room, free shoe cleaning (came in hadn't after a muddy hike on our sneakers), beach bag to use while staying, amazing bath products, comfy slippers, & cleaning cloths for your glasses were just a few room perks!! Evian spritzers, cooled cucumber slices for your eyes, pineapple skewers, cold ice water, sunscreen & immediate chair setup at the pool & beach were just above & beyond. The valets were awesome! Beautiful lei's as soon as we stepped out of the car, cold bottled waters everytime they got our car, towels, blankets & umbrellas if we needed them. They often anticipated we would need things we didn't know we would want & then were much needed (blankets for sunrise @ the crater). We had the full breakfast buffet at DUO every am & it was incredible. Made to order omelettes & pancakes and you could do anything you could imagine. I could go on & on!! Resort was pricy but you honestly got what you paid for & much much more! We spent months planning & stressing about where to stay.. Best decision we EVER made! Planning our trip back for our 1yr anniversary can't wait!!

Excellent service, attention to detail & polite hotel team. By far the best hotel in Maui (we checked out all the competition - all the others looked very very tired & service was vv poor elsewhere).
Amazing grounds, great restaurants & super facilities.
looking forward to our next visit!

This was our first vacation with our 2 month old newborn, and we could not have chosen any better. In addition to being an incredible resort, it was also unbelievably family friend and made it perfectly easy for us to enjoy a wonderful beach vacation.

FOR BABY:
Amenities were ridiculous - we had organic baby toiletries, baby sponges spelling out our daughter's name on welcome. We had a diaper genie, crib, bouncer/swing waiting in our room and had diapers, wipes, strollers, car seats, etc. ALL available had we needed them (we came OVERLY prepared so we didn't use those). My wife had such a good experience on the phone planning out the stay, and had a customer service rep on the phone within seconds, that guided us through SO much. The resort itself was easily accessible through elevators, ramps, etc. and outside a couple of steps (3 max) it was no trouble to lift a stroller to take a shortcut, and when you did, you had a bunch of Four Seasons employees rushing to offer to help. At breakfast, they made a special effort to find tables with room for the stroller and during busy times, put us in the courtyard with all the other families. We met so many wonderful new parents and the children's pool was a haven for all the parents. They had sunscreen for everyone, room for strollers, and provided assistance wherever they could. Getting to the Wailea Beach Path to explore was easy and more than enough room to navigate a stroller. They helped us arrange travel to and from with taxis, and as long as you had a locking clip - you felt VERY safe putting the car seat using a lap belt. For BABIES, this is the resort to do. For older kids - the Grand Wailea appeared to have more "older kid" stuff like playgrounds, waterparks, etc. and that was the consensus we got from talking to a lot of families. But...that's for a later time for us.

FOR ADULTS:
Wow. So the adult pool was closed when we were there, making the other 2 pools a bit crowded, but it was just a week of maintenance and weren't a big deal for us at all since we had our little one. However, man - it is GORGEOUS when open and has a second floor, infinity view. The concierge is clutch and has SO many good recommendations. I would suggest renting a car and doing it ONLINE (it was double the price at the Four Seasons and they had the 22 dollar a night valet as well) but you can't beat the convenience AND it's your vacation, AND they load everything, AND they gave us blankets, waters, etc. for our early morning drive to Haleakala (which our kiddo ROCKED by the way!). The pool/beach/cabana amenities are awesome. The food is great, the drinks are expensive but what you'd expect, and the sushi was HUGE and possibly the best tuna/salmon rolls I've had in a while ... and I eat sushi every week.

OLDER KIDS (<12)
They had a kids activity room and the water sports would suffice for anyone.

RESTAURANTS:
Spago - was expensive but a gastronomical treat. Tough for us with the child, but a SUPER romantic place with epic sunset views. Service is amazing, don't fill up on bread, and listen to your waiter's reccs...you will love this as your "splurge" dinner.

Ferraro - great place for lunch - the lobster salad sandwich/wrap were the best we've ever had. At night, their bar is a lively place with great music and great people. The umbrellas rock a bit loudly when windy but overall this was our "lunch" home.

Duo - we ate here for the incredible breakfast buffet every morning and you'll not be disappointed. The spread is amazing. Buffet stations, pastries, fruit, live omelet/pancake/French toast station, fresh juices, smoothies - it's endless. Great, quick service and lovely with an ocean view.

Duo Raw Bar/Dinner - take advantage of the Raw Bar if you can! All you can eat oysters, lobster, prawns, tuna, scallop, fish, crab ... plus with some amazing/soup and salad. Chef shucks the oysters himself and can give a great overview of what will fit your appetite.

LOCATION:
Beautiful Wailea, amazing and high end shopping, but easy to find GREAT deals at the Shops at Wailea (walking distance) and the driving is easy. We did Iao Valley, Paia for Mama's Fish House, Ho'okipa Beach Park, and it was all within an hour. We decided to NOT do the Road to Hana just because the baby didn't like the car too much and the fun stuff is OFF the beaten path versus on the paved path.

WHAT WE DIDN'T LIKE:
Flat out this place get 5 stars. However, it is a business and a popular business with MANY visitors. Our flight left at 8:30pm - even though we asked for a late checkout - 2pm was the latest they could do and their "Aloha Room" is tiny and cramped. When we got there, we were with 3 other families, it was crowded, difficult to maneuver, and I thought unfair to the other guests when our baby got cranky or had to have the diaper changed. The washrooms where small and as a "host suite" it was just too small to accommodate more than 2 families. To ensure a pleasant departure - MAKE SURE TO TALK WITH RESERVATIONS IN ADVANCE. If you cannot get a flight out before 5:30pm, make accommodations or plans if you have kids as the Aloha Room will not suffice. Also, we had a garden level room which we LOVED. It's Hawaii - you have an ocean view everywhere - you're not in your room a lot so in my humble opinion, I respectfully disagree with the people complaining about the room views. Deal with it and if you really want your ocean view - the hotel is CLEAR about what the visibility is. We even asked if it was worth it to upgrade and they were very upfront with us.

Hope you enjoy!

Room Tip: Talk to reservations and tell them everything you want in advance. This is not a place where you'll have "over-water bungalows" or "boutique type places" - it's a large hotel and it's a chain. It has it's wonderful things, but this is not like the Maldives, Tahiti, etc. All the rooms are great and honestly, you won't be in there very often unless you nap or read on the balcony.

I would not recommend this hotel, and would instead recommend staying at the Fairmont or Grand Wailea because its location on the island is the best thing about this resort. My husband and I went here for our honey moon and "our partial view of the ocean room" included a full view of the putting green outside our floor level balcony and less than inch of ocean view above the tree line if you squinted. Also received very poor service at the hotel restaraunt Sprago. Overall our stay at an Omni the previous week was infinitely better.
