“Dreamed of Returning!”
Reviewed February 5, 2013 via mobile

We are currently staying at the Four Seasons Wailea, second trip here. A week reservation. Last trip here was magical! After traveling 12 hours to get here we were assured we had a good suite, partial ocean view. We got to the room at Denver time 2:30 am (11:30 pm) it was dark and we were beyond exhausted. Yes a suite, yes partial ocean view but overlooking a garbage can, and parking lot and the furthest corner of the Four Seasons Resort. I dreamed of this for several years. Not a tiki torch in sight from room 774. It was 2:30 in the morning, we were exhausted. We spent a week in paradise and made the best of it. I called and asked several times, please provide a good suite, late checkin! February is not a crowded hotel month. I did see the whales on an excursion, my objective, but this time NOT magical. Disappointed!

We stayed at Four Seasons Maui for six nights in mid January and loved it. As a family of four with two children aged 14 and 12 the hotel suited us all. It's the perfect destination to laze around and be spoilt or for the kids who loved all the activities.

Our room was a one bedroom suite with a partial ocean view and it was lovely. There was sufficient room for everyone and lots of home comforts.

The staff at the Four Seasons are very professional yet still warm and friendly. In every area they helped us and offered advice despite being busy.

The beach is beautiful and the staff were on hand with everything you needed. In addition to stand up paddle boarding our children had a complimentary scuba dive lesson in the pool at no obligation to pay for an ocean dive. Despite being the only two in the lesson, they were treated with professionalism and care to ensure it was a positive experience and were given extra time. There was no hard sell to then pay for the next stage. We were very impressed by the way they were treated and would recommend others to give it a go.

The gym is excellent and once again serviced with everything you need. There is a large games room which was very popular with adults and kids.

The staff at the concierge desk were lovely. Each day they helped us with our local restaurant bookings and helped plan our external activities. It was a busy area yet we were given friendly and helpful service and not rushed.

The hotel has a great service where they will drive you to the local restaurants and pick you up. Staying for six nights we were keen to vary our experiences. The drivers were very helpful offering suggestions of restaurants we might want to try and generally ensuring our experience was a positive one.

We loved our stay at Four Seasons Maui and recommend it to couples and families.

Room Tip: Partial ocean view rooms were very nice and still had good views of the ocean.

I won't repeat the similar highlights from the other posts, they are all accurate- this resort is well worth the investment, and even more. The staff address you by name everywhere you go, give you cups of cold water at the beach, refreshing cool towels delivered to your lounge chair and so much more. We probably will not experience a trip like this again, unless we return to the Four Seasons in Maui, and we will absolutely be back. Every restaurant was beyond our expectations, delicious and so worth the $$. The car service was a nice surprise, all you need to do is go to the lobby, and tell them where you'd like to go. If you're not sure where to venture off to- they will offer suggestions. Nice way to take a break from the $100+ dinners. Its so true, you absolutely want for nothing. There isn't a speck of dirt or dust to be found anywhere on this resort, inside or outside. No trash, nothing. Even the clientele that are mostly made up of the 1% greet you in the hallways, and say good morning and greet you as if you belong there with them. Don't miss the daily lemonade offered in the lobby, so delicious. Thank you Four Seasons for making this a trip we will never forget, and a place we long to return to.

Room Tip: There isn't a bad room, and always leave a tip for the the attendant- as she will give you extra...

From the moment we checked in to the moment we departed, our stay was fantastic. The rooms was spacious, the staff was helpful and polite, always going out of their way to ensure you were content. The location in Wailea was perfect - close to the volcano for the bike ride in the early morning, great snorkeling/kayaking in the bay nearby, and within driving distance of many of the boat tours of neighboring islands.

The beach was clean and calm for swimming. We were close to a variety of restaurants and tours. The resort also offered a car service to you and your guests within a two mile drive.

The pool never felt crowded. The view from the serenity pool was breathtaking. Overall, we had an amazing stay and will return in the near future.

Beautiful hotel, staff is extremely service oriented but not intrusive. They went out of their way to make sure our stay was wonderful. Curtis at the bar heard us looking for a menu item that is no longer available, and without any fanfare or trouble, arranged for them to have the item the next day for lunch for us. Not something I would have ever asked for or expected them to do. Hotel is impeccable and we will return again and again.

Booked through Whatahotel.com and received some excellent perks at the hotel as well.

Excellent hotel, as great as all the thousands of reviews on this site. . It wasn’t like what some of the reviews said, about people falling over themselves to help. Staff was helpful, courteous, etc but not at your every beck and call kind of thing. Maybe I’m a tough critic. we did get a bottle of champagne to celebrate our special event. We had the Virtuoso amenities (free breakfast daily, one time $100 dining credit and upgrade room if available – ask your travel agent). Room upgrade was not available and we were very disappointed until we got to our garden view room and saw it had a BEAUTIFUL view of the ocean.

What I loved most about 4S was that the room categories underpromised and overdelivered, by which I mean that our garden view room did indeed have a great view of the beautiful main garden, but also a spectacular view of the beach and ocean and mountains beyond. This was especially appreciated because our supposedly oceanview room at the Makena Beach and Golf resort had a far worse view than our garden view room at 4S. Obviously it cost more too but still – be honest in naming room categories!

As others have done, we had trouble deciding b/w 4S and Grand Wailea and to a lesser extent, the Fairmont. After a brief visit to GW, we were 100% absolutely certain we made the right choice, no question!! GW seemed like a chaotic zoo – mobs of people, no staff in sight, lines and waiting for everything (valet, restaurant, spa, etc). In contrast, at 4S there was always a staff person in sight to help, hardly ever had to wait for the valet or to be seated at the restaurant. We did have a few service hiccups but nothing egregious. The worst was when we went to the serenity pool to watch the sunset. Even tho the staff member saw us turn on the hot tub and get in, never saying anything to us, he walked by a few mins later and without a word, turned off the hot tub and walked away. We found this really insulting since, Yes the pool does close at sunset but a) its still daylight and sun has only JUST started to set and b) why don’t you explain what you are doing so we don’t feel like invisible hobos getting bum rushed out of the place?

Toiletries were some brand I never heard of, not the L’occitane brand I saw in someone else’s pics. The lotions weren’t very good so if you have dry/sensitive skin, bring your own.
The free wifi was pretty weak, def no streaming video or online shopping even, as pictures took eternity to load.
Valets have water bottles and beach towels for when you go to activities off the property (road to hana, other beaches, etc) so no need to bring your own.
Beach is excellent but it is public so can get crowded/rowdy.
Did the Ultimate Dinner whch was amazing but its not actually 100% private since beach is public.
The breakfasts at Duo are very pricey and also very hoity toity. I ordered corned beef hash one day expecting a nice greasy plate and instead it was this beautiful clean very healthful dish. Funny. Tasted good but just not what I expected. Most hot breakfasts will cost about $30.

Call ahead to have the valet get your car so its ready for you when you come down.
As for location, this was our first time in Maui so we drove all over the island for activities (bad planning). Wailea is way south and 40 mins from the airport and 1 hour from Lahaina. There aren’t a lot of things to do/eat in Wailea, esp not affordably, so keep that in mind. That said, I would not want to stay anywhere else.
Sales tax is 4% in Maui so if you have a big purchase you may save some cash here.
All in all I’d love to stay here again – it was a dream!
