It is hard to find any fault at the Makena Surf. The condos in Building F are so close to the shoreline that you are lulled to sleep
just by leaving the balcony doors open. Unfortunately the bedrooms do not face the ocean so if you want to sleep to the sound of crashing waves you will have to sleep on the couch.
The grounds are lush and the people tend to be "well heeled " but relaxed. Not at all pretentious as some of the guests at the 5 star resorts can be. The cost of the condo is higher than you pay for a standard room at a 5 star resort, but the view is incomparable. An oceanfront view (which can be had at any of the 5 star resorts in Wailea) would cost you about $800 per night. But you will be further from the shoreline for sure. If you need the lavish pools, slides and resort amenities, this is not the place for you. no room service.
But if you want the most amazing views of the volcano, sunset and positioned as close to the ocean as you can possibly get, then look no further than Makena Surf and see the magic that is maui come alive.More
