Owner description: The best snorkeling spot in Wailea.
Reviewed October 17, 2012

This little red sandy beach is in the Wailea area. There are no amenities so bring what you will need. The surf is gentle before noon so it is best enjoyed in the morning. The many rocks in the area make for great snorkeling. We saw tropical fish and 3 huge green sea turtles. There are a few shady trees on this beach and it wasn't too crowded.

This beach was past the Grand Wailea and Marriott. Better for snorkeling than if front of the Four Seasons/Grand Wailea. We could see more fish and there were turtles!

We were married on this beach, not very crowded. Beautiful beach. Great place to snorkel if you want to stay close to your hotel.

Great place, you can either set up on the grassy knoll and look down on the reef and ocean, or be right on the beach. The water is calm (good for those who are a little intimidated by the ocean), there is shade which is needed when there are no clouds. Recommend going early in the morning (water is calmest) and stay for lunch then the wind comes up in the afternoon so it's time to go to the pool or sightseeing.

Went to this beach upon recommendation by the locals for great snorkeling. It's beautiful!! Great for beginner snorkelers!! Just put your stuff under the shade trees, toss on your gear, and then you can hop right in!! Beautiful fish await right off of the shore!! Loved the view of West Maui and Lanai from the beach.

Cons: NO Lifeguards!!! Swim at your own risk. Current gets strong after 12:00 PM.

If you want to get in some good snorkeling & have a parking spot, you MUST get there early. Like before 8:30 AM. Otherwise, it's over crowded and the water is stirred up and murky and you will not see as much.

Tsunami Siren: It's located RIGHT in front of the beach and at 11:45 AM on the 1st of each month (unless it's a weekend day) it DOES go off. It is VERY LOUD. There is NO warning on the beach signs along the path to the beach and if a person has no idea of what to expect, it WILL scare the carp out of you!! I was in the water when it went off and about had a heart attack!!

Trash: Yes, even at this beautiful beach, people "forget" how to pick up trash. Sigh...

Also, no food or drink stands. Bring your own picnic. ☺
