“One of the best beaches in Maui”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2013

Visited this beach last week, what a gem. It's long (great for walking and sunsets), sandy, with gentle waves. Very calm. Great for snorkeling, swimming, and has little waves for boogie boarding. This long sandy beach connects to Mokapu and Ulua beaches. It's just as pretty as Wailea beach, a lot calmer and much less crowded. My new favorite beach in the Wailea / Kihei area.

“Excellent beach!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 18, 2013

Keawakapu Beach is a gem! There is plenty of room for families and couples alike to spread out on the soft sand and soak up some rays. The waves in July are fairly calm so kids of all ages can enjoy the ocean. There is a small outcropping of lava rock to the right of the beach that has abundant fish and the occasional green sea turtle. The snorkeling can be very good and the water is fairly clear. I swam with a turtle heading to the rocks, which was amazing!

“Keawakapu Beach”

I've snorkeled a lot of different places on the west side of Maui, but the little reef just off of the 5 Palms is one of my favorites. Mild surf, nice variety of rocky terrain and abundant fish life. Safe for young and inexperienced divers.

“One of Maui's best beaches!”

The North part of this beach has parking and easy access to Five Palms and Sarento's if you want to grab some breakfast before beaching it. The mornings are best and the water is very calm before the trade winds pick up in the late morning or early afternoon. There are also tide pools on this side of the beach in front of the Five Palms where kids can explore and watch small fish, crabs, hermit crabs, sea cucumbers, etc. My daughter loves to look for sea shells in that area as well. If you are still there in the afternoon then Five Palms also offers a great happy hour when you are finished and need to get out of the sun and get some pupus and/or cocktails. I have been to all of Maui's beaches and this remains one of my favorites, as well as the favorite of lots of other locals I see there week after week.

“Favorite beach in Maui”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2013

I love the soft sand, sandy bottom, clear water and small waves. There is a little bit of shade under the palm trees, at least in the morning. A short walk down the beach to the rocks and there's great snorkeling. The Days Inn has an activity desk and a rental store. There is also a deli to pick up snacks and drinks to take back to your beach chairs. My favorite beach in Maui.
