My honey and I had to kill some time to we popped in to Nick's. We sat at the bar and Jason the bartender was very welcoming. His suggestions of food were spot on. And we even had him decide our drinks for us. We had a perfect there. And now I'm planning a GNO there just to go back for the oysters!

We were extremely disappointed with our dinner at Nicks recently as we have dined there many times over the years and it is one of our favorite restaurants in Maui. We are not that hard to please but our latest experience there was beyond terrible! Since there was no manager to talk to there was really nothing to do but sit and wait for well over an hour for our 4 entrees to arrive...and we had a 2 year old with us who was being very patient. Finally they arrived and the special of the night was so overcooked we could not believe it...that 'tender' and 'flaky' fish was hard to cut with a knife...we never could find anyone to tell so it was not touched....the waiter picked it up and could have cared less...terrible service ( not really service...!) and terrible food...upon leaving there was no one to say good bye to .... when we did tell the waiter how awful the special was he literally dropped the check on the table and ran away. It was comical except it was a very expensive dinner and we left with a terrible taste in our mouths! What a shame for a gorgeous location...guess that is what happens when restaurants don't care. We did notice that all the tables around us also waited well over an hour for their entrees also so we were not the only ones!

I wanted to share a highlight of my trip in Maui. After having an amazing trip with my wife, we decided to save Nicks Fishmarket Maui Restaurant for our last night. As we were waiting for our table, we had a few drinks at the bar where we meet Jason Lewis (the bartender). He recommended the "Mango Martini" which is a must have refreshing start to the evening and kept us well entertained. As we were guided to our table by a hostess which was very polite, we were introduced to a team of waitstaff that are there for your every need. The waiter guided us through the whole menu and was very knowledgeable. For the finally we had a dessert called the Strawberry Panzini, which is strawberries drizzled in chocolate and caramel then flamed table side with a Grand Marnier mixture accompanied with plate that the waiter draws on using chocolate, devonshire cream and brown sugar. By far the best dinning experience ever. This is coming from some one that has dined in Beverly Hills and the best resorts around the world. With that being said, Nicks Fishmarket will always be a Standard.
