Pros: You step out from the car and into a perfect tropical oasis where warming smiles greet you ‘aloha and welcome’ with a beautiful natural lei of fresh flowers for the ladies and seed pod arrangement for men. As you walk across the impressive walkway past lipstick palms and the timeless classic orchids you catch a glimpse of the quintessential ‘Hawaii’ view. You look through the foyer to the limitless Pacific Ocean whilst drinking in the beauty of the hotel as it’s tropical gardens meet with the ocean.
Check in was a breeze, greeted with refreshing drinks and friendly staff.
Our room was perfect! A 1br suite that connected to a small swim up pool which was perfect for young kids not wanting to trek all the way to the beach or main pool and back every time. The rooms are meticulously decorated and spacious- although I do wonder why the lounge room is laid out in such a way that misutilises the space - the bathroom takes your breath away and the bed was super comfy! The fold out bed was the best the kids had ever slept on. TV has google chrome so you can connect to Netflix on phone.
The facilities are fabulous and true to high star standards.
The hotel is much smaller than others which makes it my pick of the Wailea area. Intimate where staff remember you and you are made to feel very welcomed. We never saw even one sour or cranky staff, all were beautiful souls!
Breakfast was one of the best I have EVER experienced and I have experienced many many luxe hotel brekkie!
Cons: well none that would deter you from staying here but if you are staying a while there are only a few items on the menu for kids- none are healthy, I am coeliac and gluten free options were ok but not great! The luau in the lawn was nice but for 2A +2K it was over AUD750 so I was expecting something amazing - it was ‘OK’ and on par with traditional Fijian shows (about $75 per head) we were at the back table so we couldn’t see much of the show then to have been sick all night (others were too when we ran into them the next day).
F&B prices are quite high and we were forced to improvise a bit as we couldn’t justify around AUD600 a day in meals for 4 people (and we don’t drink so that’s just food).
Over all this hotel was beautiful, modern, intimate and we were super happy we chose Andaz for our first stop on our Hawaii island hopper holiday!
