After a disappointing stay at The Ritz, this hotel came to our rescue. The rooms are amazing, staff is super friendly and food has you craving for more. The location and ambiance is super relaxing and you just drift into vacation mode from the moment you arrive.
What a wonderful title to your review. We are so glad you feel this way! Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts, and we look forward to welcoming you both back to Hotel Wailea again soon.
Warm regards,
Markus
We spent four days at the Hotel Wailea and it is a highlight of our travels together. It is private enough to be thoroughly relaxing, however, there are enough places to congregate we met other couples and enjoyed being social sometimes. The shuttle service was amazing and made it so that we didn't even have to figure out how to get where we were going, find parking, etc. It contributed to the relaxation. Food was great. We are now craving Molokai Purple Sweet Potatoes. The cooking class we went to was great for both of us and everyone else there. The housekeeping staff was on top of everything. Out suite was kept clean, neat and completely unobtrusive.
Aloha and thank you for your excellent review! I am so pleased that you both enjoyed your stay and had such a relaxing time together. We hope to invite you back again soon.
Warm regards,
Markus
This hotel is amazing. Beautiful rooms and a wonderful hotel with incredible staff. We came here after being at another hotel in Maui and the peace and serinity here was really appreciated. The furniture and bathroom fittings are absolute quality. I sat on the balcony most nights because it was so welcoming.
The photos of the pool area don't do it justice. There is plenty of interesting seating around the pool and the service is impeccable. Several times we used the hotel transport to go to the beach where we supplied free a chair, umbrella and towel. We also got dropped off at restaurants around Wailia and there were no hassles.
This hotel is a beautiful place to stay and we will return.
I spent wayyy tooo much time researching where to stay for our first trip to Maui. We don't have children, prefer boutique to large chains and don't mind paying premium prices but there must be value there.
We chose Hotel Wailea because it got great reviews, it was adults only and a small hotel with Relais & Chateaux credentials.
Overall, it was a great stay. But, it lacked in a few areas that definitely had the hotel falling short of expectations, especially for a 5 star R&S hotel and and the premiume rice for the stay.
The Pros:
The Pool is AMAZING. It is so quiet and peaceful and gorgeous. We checked out the Four Seasons and Andaz pools and both were pretty overrun with kids and stressed parents. At the Hotel Wailea it's all zen, with couples enjoying cocktails and books. Seriously amazing.
The rooms are top notch, better than the pics. Very large, high quality fixtures. We had a partial ocean (124) and it was very good.
Lobby and open air spaces were amazing. The landscaping is incredible.
Valet with Teslas and sweet Jeeps to take you within Wailea perimeter. I debated the compromise in not staying at an oceanfront place. For us, it was worth it. We're not super beach people but it was soo easy to gt a ride to the beach when we wanted it but get back to the hotel pool quickly. ;)
Cons:
Service and general attitude toward guests was lackluster and disappointing. This should be the standout for any 5 start hotel and Wailea failed here. When we checked into our room there was still a dirty plate that housekeeping had forgotten about outside the door. then, housekeeping left our coffee dishes on the front porch for over 24 hours so it was the first thing we saw every time we came to the room.
I woke up at 6 am and was desperate for coffee. No coffee before 7 am and the staff were pretty unhelpful or even seemed to try to get it for me sooner (I'd expect for their international travelers and early birds coffee before 7 am).
They have a burger on the lunchtime menu. I was jonesing for a burger for dinner, called the restaurant to request one, and they were pretty unhelpful and just said no. (btw, what room service menu doesn't have a burger on it!?)
The hot tub on Sat night the 6th was so hot that it wouldn't have burned anyone who could actually get more than a few toes in. So, hot tub was unusable.
Took a yoga class and halfway through an off gasoline smell became so strong I had to leave.
Overall, these are all small, collective disappointments that hopefully others don't experience but I left not satisfied.
(PSA: We looked at the Andaz, Four Seasons and Hotel Wailea and would likely still choose HW again. Andaz was very nice but still Hyatt-y and Four Seasons very nice but seemed to only one one pool w/a bazillion kids)
Worth every penny to stay here instead of the big crowded resorts. We didn’t even mind that it wasn’t within walking distance to the beach. The rooms are incredible. Every little detail made me smile, from the flowers all over the resort to the complimentary glass bottles of water they provide in your rooms and the Honolulu Cookies at each turndown service. The pool gets a bit crowded in the afternoon time but was completely empty after 7pm each night. I love that the pool and hot tub are open 24/7, no annoying kids to ruin the freedom of going late at night. As a mom of 4 who doesn’t mind being around kids on vacation, I didn’t think we would appreciate an adults-only hotel as much as we did. It’s just sooooo quiet, calm, respectful, and peaceful! Everyone at this hotel is friendly and stress free, all just enjoying our little piece of paradise. We were sad to leave but will definitely be back!
