It doesn't look as nice as tidepools in Kauai, but the food is better than tidepools. The lamb is excellent, the fish is fresh and cooked properly. Had a great waiter too. Probably the second best meal in maui after koiso.

Of all the great meals we've had this trip on Maui, the meal at Humu stands out. My mahi mahi was perfectly prepared, the service was spot on and the setting was tremendous. Go at sunset and sit at one of the tables along the edge of the pavilion where the bar is located, and enjoy the view. We liked it so much we're going again before we leave.

We so looked forward to our Birthday dinner at the Humu at Grand Wailea.....boy were we disappointed. The worst waiter in Hawaii waited on us! No personality, no excitement, no help, simply did not care!! Sad very sad. Will not go back.

My husband and i have been going to the Humu for 17 years. It has gone through many changes of management, and had its ups and downs. We were excited to see the new menu this year. The waiter suggested the sea bass encrusted with crab. The fish was overcooked, rubbery and hard to cut into with a regular knife. It lacked any seasoning whatsoever. The crab 'crust' was mushy and fishy tasting. The sauce was overly sweet. I asked my husband to try the fish and he said it was inedible. When the waiter came by I told him that the fish was overcooked and asked for a different piece of fish. About 20 minutes later he brought a thin sliver of deliciously prepared fish--it was about 3 small bites, as if to say, 'Yes we can prepare a good piece of fish but you can't have enough for an entree.' No apology from the manager, nothing. Our only explanation for bringing such a ridiculously small piece of fish was that they were probably planning to comp us for my meal, but no, they had the temerity to charge $34 for an entree which was largely inedible.
I guess after 17 years it's time for a change.
