We had stayed at the Grand Wailea two years ago, and ate at Humuhumu as part of our stay. Our recollection of it was that it was a great dinner, good service, and we got to get the solo table out on the little patio, overlooking the lagoon for a beautiful sunset. Returning this time just for dinner, we had another couple with us, and we wanted to share the experience. We didn't immediately get the solo table on the lagoon, but we immediately connected with our waiter, Justin, who worked his magic, and within 15 minutes had the four of us out at the table. It was a gorgeous evening, as it often is in Maui, and the sunset did not disappoint. We did the prix fixe meal, with a wine pairing, and all 4 of us were completely satisfied with the courses, and wine choices were also excellent. Justin continued to amaze us with his service and attentiveness, as well as some witty conversation. He surprised the wives with some stuffed Humuhumunukunukuapua'a animals, and then brought us out some treats that were not part of the prix fixe menu. A few of us capped the evening with some cocktails, and I had the Smith 20 year port, which truly capped off a fantastic experience. Overall, the table and view were without parallel, the food was fantastic, and our server was among the best we've had in our travels.
