“underwhelming, disappointing”
Reviewed October 25, 2011

Although the location of this luau is very convenient to guests of Wailea resorts, the actual performance is far from what we expected. I have attended the Old Lahaina Luau so was expecting the same type of display since the cost was comparable. We were able to walk to/from The Grand Wailea, whereas parking in Lahaina is a problem.
We were in Maui to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of my sister and her husband; there were 25 family members. We did not stay at the Grand Wailea but made our reservation far enough in advance to ensure good seating. We were actually seated at 3 tables in the very back.
The lei greeting was very flimsy, no flowers, just small shells on a string. Something offered for free at the ABC Store. The food and drinks were typical luau fare, but the performance was far from memorable. There were only 3 female dancers and 3 male. Each dance was very slow and not once did anyone wear the traditional grass skirt. The show lacked any sort of pizzazz ... it was boring. And, if we had just stood outside the ropes on the resort grounds we could have watched it for free.
The staff ... extremely unfriendly. I would never recommend this luau.

“The staff is amazing!”

The Luau is at the Wailea Grand Hotel. The luau staff went out of their way to deliver outstanding customer service. The show was beautiful and I would go back in a heartbeat!

Grand luau was a flop. Over priced for food and performance that was unappealing and boring. Very disappointed and unsatisfied.
