Description: Chef Mark Ellman of Avalon fame and Chef/Owner of Maui Tacos, who also owns the orginal Mala Ocean Tavern in Lahaina, has joined forces with his long time partner Shep Gordon and opened a Southside outpost of Mala. Aptly called Mala Wailea at the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort and Spa Overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the Island of Lanai. Our delightful restaurant offers stunning sunset vistas over the Pacific – every seat has an ocean view. Mark is pleased to continue the Mala tradition of making great food organic, healthy, fresh, and delicious. With an authentic menu of Mediterranean and Pacific Rim cuisine, our beautifully crafted dishes will please the palates of your most revered guests.

The food was awesome and plentiful. Great service. The view was fantastic. The bill came to $170 for the two of us which did not include the tip. We shared three appetizers, had a total of three drinks and two great entrees. No dessert. The serviettes night need to be change because they left white pieces of lint on our clothe. Thanks for a great night

Family (4 Adults) on Valentines Day. Not overly busy but found service to be slow and average at best. Beverage / wine delivery was slow both pre and during meal. Usually when a second wine is requested it is intended to be enjoyed along with the meal. Excuses like "sorry its Valentines Day and the bar is kinda busy" just adds to the ho-hum of the dining experience. Total drinks were 1 local beer, 2 White Wines, 2 Highballs, and 2 Cokes! Although the food was fine, and in fact enjoyed, we found the experience was far too expensive and the portions especially the Mahi Mahi to be very small for the $39.00. The Kobe Burger although a good size was underdone and the male server advised that "that is the way we cook it" when questioned about the requested medium well. Long story short it was decent food and a great view for very high price. Our order included 1 shared starter, 1 Kobe Burger, 2 Mahi Mahi, 1 Ribs, and 1 desert. There are far too many fine restaurants on Maui where $270.00 with a normal tip for 4 Adults (one not drinking) that will provide much more in terms of service and portion size with the very same view beautiful view! I can't imagine having 2 additional people on this occasion and being faced with the automatic 18% tip!!!
We are annual visitors to maui (have been for 25 years) and probably won't consider MaLa as a place for dinner.

We discovered Mala in Lahaina in 2009 and loved it. We dined there several times since and found it consistently great. However, that quality of the food did not carry over to the one in Wailea in the Marriott. Too bad.... great view and good service. I have truly enjoyed the wok fried whole fish at the Lahaina location but the one I had last night at Wailea was a disappoint-ment. Overcooked and a skin to tough to chew. The lobster bisque was just OK. My wife had the Farmer's salad and tuna bruschetta and said they were spicy but OK. Considering the prices, (they don't even serve bread with the meal) this place needs some work. Lots of good restaurants in Wailea but this one is not keeping pace.

Stayed at this resort and ate here for both their breakfast buffet and dinner menu. First the breakfast buffet was overpriced for what you got. It was $24.95 (with discount) not including beverages. Next the dinner menu had great choices for meals just very pricey. Service and view were great. Only ate there once for dinner as it was over $110 for 2 people not good portion size.

Mala has fresh delicious food. There are so many terrific choices on the menu it is hard to choose. The wait staff was very helpful to us and we got our meals promptly. Ask for a table looking out at the ocean!
