“Tavern dining outside”
Reviewed December 26, 2012

We had a couple of light meals here when we did not want to stray off the property. Flat breads were great and they had the best poke of the entire trip (I tried it many times). Great service and beautiful views. Drinks were very expensive but hey...your in Maui.

“Great setting, abysmal food”
Reviewed December 14, 2012

okay, let's start out with the positives. The physical setting of this restaurant is stunning and the people who work there could not be nicer. Service is excellent and the staff bends over backwards to make you feel welcomed. The food, however, was appallingly bad. The seafood dish which we ordered tasted like it was soaked in tomato paste and had no other discernible flavor. My wife's steak was tough and undercooked. For a place with a Zagat food rating of 25 we were expecting near perfection. The food is quite expensive and we've had far, far better dining experiences in neighborhood diners.so, if you are looking for a magnificent location, view and overall ambience, this place cannot be beat. If, on the other hand, you're looking for a high quality dining experience, you would be well advised to look elsewhere.

“lack of veggie options”
Reviewed December 13, 2012

we were told of 'many" vegan and vegetarian options...maybe 2 at best. our server was polite and offered to make something off the menu, but you can never be sure of the quality of a dish that is not made often. we ended up going elsewhere

“Hotel restaurant but not fitting stereotype!”
Reviewed December 9, 2012

I typically distrust restaurants in plush hotels since the clientele is often trapped/ tired/ on expense accounts.
In Hawaii, however, this is somewhat less true, since there are a lot of choices and a shorter distance "in the clusters".
This setting was serene, the service was excellent and how often is paella available for one? Although my wife and I didn't use it, there was a very appealing prix fixe menu.

“Breakfast Buffet : Good view, Good Food, Attentive Service”
Reviewed December 5, 2012 via mobile

Had the breakfast buffet this morning - a great (though a touch pricey) way to start your day.

Buffet includes a variety of fresh fruit, bacon, ham, eggs, waffles, potatoes, omelette kiosk, salad, a variety of pastries (mini pain au chocolat) fruit juices, coffee etc. It's everything you'd expect from a well stocked and well maintained buffet.

The only negative would be that's its rather highly priced and that when I went to get some salad, and stirred the leaves a bit as I was picking up the salad - about 25 wee flies (like fruit flies) stirred up and our of the salad - that not good.

If you're a Marriot reward member make sure to get the discount off of the buffet, bringing the price more in line with normal.
