Description: Hawaii's first and only Relais & Chateaux restaurant, The Restaurant at Hotel Wailea offers a European-inspired elegance infused with creative island-to-table cuisine. Menus are created around what is readily available from Maui’s own farms and fisherman ensuring that each dish is prepared using only the finest local, seasonal and artisanal products; including those grown in the restaurant’s own garden and farming operation. From its perch on the hillside above South Maui's Wailea resort area, the restaurant offers sweeping panoramic ocean views from the upper lanai and intimate dining under the stars in the garden.

We started our vacation with dinner at Capische, literally an hour after we got to our hotel. What greeted us was just perfect--an amazing sunset view table on the upper level. Once we were finally over the view, the meal was pretty incredible. Small gourmet menu offered, and everything was wonderful. Service was very good, although they attempted the "team" approach later in the meal, and ended up leaving us waiting for the check longer than they probably intended. No big deal. Overall, a great experience and highly recommended.

The service was very attentive, the view was stunning, the tomato and mozzarella salad was surprisingly (to me) VERY good. I could tell that the ingredients were high quality. We were treated to prosecco mango sorbet drinks while we waited for our entrees- soooo good! My veal entree was good, but not my favorite. My husband got a steak and gnocci, which he said had really intense flavors, but he loved it. The waiter was a bit intense for our liking. We kind of wanted to tell him to have a couple of drinks and then come back... ( :

Food is good, not great, thus I considered it overpriced. Risotto is the best as an apetizzer and is the best thing in the menu. Entrees are extremely limited....only 5 items. Views are fantastic, overlooking Wailea beach, since it sits on top of a hill. If you are going for the views and romantic atmosphere, great, if you are looking for an excellent culinary experience, as the best restautrant in Maui, it is not. Jun 2009.

Capische is a very romantic spot for a sunset dinner. We made reservations through our hotel and had them drop us off and pick us up. The view is awesome, yet another of the many picture opportunities for a sunset snap shot. We were seated immediately and a reservation is a must as they have very limited seating. With only 11 tables and a bar/waiting area, you need a reservation to experience dinner here. We ordered the mushroom risotto for an appetizer and it came out in two separate little dishes one for me and my spouse. She doesn't even like mushrooms and thought it was the best thing she ate on the island. Their menu is very simple with only a few choices for apps and entrees. I had the fish of the day and my wife had the opakapaka. Both were excellent. For dessert we had creme brulee, which was also very good. This is a must visit for any trip to maui.

We were treated with excellent care upon arrival. Our table was reserved in a very private setting. Candle lit paths escort you to a private table nesseled into the beautifully lanscaped gardens. The food was preparred well and good proportions, a bit spendy however the environment is well worth the extra expense. I would highly recommend this for any special occassion. Be prepared to spend $200-$400 for two people depending on wine/drink choices.
