Description: Hawaii's first and only Relais & Chateaux restaurant, The Restaurant at Hotel Wailea offers a European-inspired elegance infused with creative island-to-table cuisine. Menus are created around what is readily available from Maui’s own farms and fisherman ensuring that each dish is prepared using only the finest local, seasonal and artisanal products; including those grown in the restaurant’s own garden and farming operation. From its perch on the hillside above South Maui's Wailea resort area, the restaurant offers sweeping panoramic ocean views from the upper lanai and intimate dining under the stars in the garden.

The food here in unquestionably outstanding, so much so that we cancelled a night at Ferraro's at the Four Seasons to go back to Capische (the Four Seasons was an amazing hotel for our stay but their food was not worth the money and overhyped, we ate at Duo one night and were very disappointed).

Ther service was good, not amazing but if you are enjoying the company and views like you should be then you wouldn't notice anything bad they were just busy.

The starters we had (white truffle risotto twice for me, same for my husband one night and then he had the vegetable ravioli) were superb as were our mains on both nights spaghetti bolognese, slow roast lamb, red snapper were honestly the best of each of those I had tasted.

The wine - the first night we were talked into buying a wine "more suited" to our meal (our server had been on a wine tasting course so was in his words educated well in the wines they had!) so we went from a $85 wine to a $180 and although it was a good wine it wasn't superb, the second time we went we had a more laid back server and chose the $65 Ken Wright Pinot Blanc which was very very good so I would recommend that highly to anyone there.

so I would say a meal there without a overpriced wine would be around $300 for 2 for starter, main and a bottle of wine but it really is worth it.

The cocktails were very nice too I had several lovely mojitos there!

Nice, quiet, romantic restaurant. Impeccable service. Appetizers and dessert were to die for. My entree was above average but it didn't really wow me. Overall, good experience and would go back again to try other dishes.

What an incredible experience! These guys are so clued in! Have a look at their resume's.. They trained with the best and it shows. We dine at the best and this is a "must do" for all who want fine dining. We never expected this level of restaurant in Maui (other than Bev's places). What a welcome surprise. This was by far the best food experience we had on the Island. I only wish we had booked for several nights since they fill up quickly. Have your hotel book ahead for you when you make your reservations.

Since the opening this is a must every time we come to town, we have recommended this place to everyone from family to top business clients. Everyone is beyond pleased. One of the chef's worked under the Thomas Keller Tree and has been recognized by Keller for his amazing talent. I wish we could find more places that treat food like art, and travel the world just to give you one of the best meals on this planet. A dinner of a life time. I hope all who go to Maui take a night to indulge in this life time experience.

Dined here April 11, 08, Feb 2008, and April 2007. We've found them to be consistently a fine place to dine, either with a view "from the rail" upstairs or in a semi-private garden setting downstairs.

We've had enthusiastic, knowledgeable servers each time with Tyler being our favorite. He could make brussel sprouts sound great.

Our son has enjoyed the beef entre on each occassion usually a steak. In comparing the filet at Ruth's Chris and Capische, both great but different. RC uses butter based topping and Capische a blend of spices and reductions.

The Mahi in its various forms has been excellent to memorable. We've had Lehe, a snapper, in two forms, both excellent.

The shrimp/pasta in white sauce is on their menu regularly and is excellent.

Great service, excellent food, and fine ambiance, especially the hillside 170 degree view of the coastline at dusk make Capische a fine choice for dining.

We booked our table through "OpenTable" online.
