Description: Hawaii's first and only Relais & Chateaux restaurant, The Restaurant at Hotel Wailea (formerly known as Capische?) offers a European-inspired elegance infused with creative island-to-table cuisine. Menus are created around what is readily available from Maui’s own farms and fisherman ensuring that each dish is prepared using only the finest local, seasonal and artisanal products; including those grown in the restaurant’s own garden and farming operation. From its perch on the hillside above South Maui's Wailea resort area, the restaurant offers sweeping panoramic ocean views from the upper lanai and intimate dining under the stars in the garden.

“Amazing food & Great atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 11, 2012

Capische is located in Hotel Wailea where we stayed on our trip to Maui, so we've eaten here more than once. The food is simply amazing, you just have to try the Ahi dishes and the Hawai'i Five-O for dessert.
The atmosphere in the restaurant is also amazing - if you can, make a reservation for one of the tables in the garden downstairs. This is a guarantee for a beautiful romantic dinner as the tables in the garden are fairly secluded and you don't even really notice the other guests in the restaurant. But even if you get a table upstairs, you're in for a wonderful dinner.

“Unforgettable birthday dinner in Maui”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 26, 2012 via mobile

My new wife made surprise reservations at Capsiche for my birthday. When we arrived the hostess was very friendly and promptly ushered us to our table. The waitstaff were courteous and affable, attentive to every last detail. The waiter knew the menu very well and his description of the specials painted a great picture of the entree. We did have the chef sampler as well as pumpkin gnocchi and risotto for appetizers. All were well worth the money we paid for the ambiance, excellent service, and quality of food. The Sinatra music playing in the background as we sat ocean front watching the sunset made it that much more memorable.

For drinks, I ordered a pear martini which was a nice choice for a warm night. My wife had a glass of Pinot noir.

The only minor issue were the two fruit flies attempting to dive into my martini. Otherwise this is probably the best meal we had in Maui and one of the best dining experiences we have had in quite awhile.
I definitely recommend it since they did recognize us for our honeymoon as well as for my birthday. The next time we are in maui, this will be our first stop. Two couples that we are friends with had been to Capsiche on their honeymoons and highly recommended it to us.

Make sure you get there before sunset enjoy some cocktails and appetizers.. Food is great, you should try their truffle risotto and for appetizers you gotta try the salted chocolate caramel.

“Worst meal in Maui”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2012

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel as well as a friend. What a disappointment! Portions are small. Husband had beet salad and was lukewarm...on the verge of mushy. For the entrees, I had the shrimp carbonara, it was so salty I could barely stand it. Service was very slow also. I would say skip Capushe? and head to Mamas Fish House...best meal we had.

“Great dinner!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 23, 2012

Before dinner, we had drinks and appetizers in the bar. Our cocktail server was wonderful- I don't remember her name but she had the prettiest green eyes! She was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, had great recommendations, and was very friendly and attentive.

We ate dinner outside at a very private table situated on a flagstone landing surrounded by trees and plants. Unfortunately, the sunset view was blocked, but it was very private and romantic. The food was delicious, the service was great.
