We stayed here and at a neighboring resort over a 10 day period. The staff at the Grand Wailea was exceptional and always went above and beyond to take care of you. Resort facility was a bit dated, but gardens were immaculate. Beach was very well maintained and pools were exceptional. Water slides were awesome for the children and I must admit the long slide was even fun for me. I would recommend the resort for a family, but I would expect more for a couples getaway.

Very nice amenities and location. They need to get much more serious about bird control. Birds were landing on my cup on the patio and all around us at the pool. At one time I counted seven on the dining table next to me.

Old and dated! Doesn't seem fresh and exciting. Hotel needs a cash infusion to completely update decor and technology. You're not there to watch TV..........but, hotel should have a top of the line "sat dish"..........that picks up a drop dead gorgeous tv pic. AND.........have a ton of channels! Don't go cheap on your guests! And ...........just update the rooms.........and more......please! The guests are not stupid!!! We know the grand wailea isn't so grand anymore. You can only go so long before word gets around that the Grand Wailea is yesterday's news! The traveling public is super sharp! Very smart people! Get over the past .......and update for tomorrow.

Room Tip: Don't stay if you can't get a ocean view...........what's the point.

The hotel, its Lobby filled with sculpture by Botero, the gardens, the beach and the swimming pools are spectacular. We stayed there with my wife and kids, the hotel has a mini water park, the kids did not want to get out of the swimming pool, they had such an amazing time. As with all Waldorf Astoria hotels, this one is expensive, but if you ask me well worth it. If you're visiting Maui with kids, consider staying here, just beware the kids may not want to leave the hotel, and neither will you!!!

The only reason I didn't rate it one star is because the resort itself is beautiful. Hey, how can you go wrong in Maui? However, it is difficult to rate the service BECAUSE THERE WAS NONE. I was there with a very large group. You would think the General Manager and Food & Beverage Director would be prepared. Nah. Surly waiters - when they showed up. My husband & I actually walked out after our drinks & appetizer after waiting so long - having to order with the busboy - being told there were "no crackers" in the entire hotel to go with our fruit & cheese plate - having to get our own utensils...it goes on and on. The coup de gras was our last night at the resort - where we were visited by THREE roaches running around the room. We did change rooms for the night. However when my husband went to the General Manager, he was too busy, in a meeting, etc. Finally he brought a roach in a bag to the front desk - that got his attention. After much negotiation with the arrogant manager he reluctantly gave us a store credit. No sorry, no attempt at being at empathy...Last comment - we have stayed at the New York Waldorf-Astoria several times. The difference is night & day. This resort should NOT be considered a Waldorf hotel. Mr. Hilton, (who now owns the Waldorf brand) would be rolling over in his grave.

I appreciate your speed in bringing this issue to my attention. The comfort of our guests is of the utmost importance, and we always strive we deliver the singular luxury experiences our guests expect from us. I have since followed up with our pest control company, ensuring that you and future guests are taken care of. If I can assist you further, certainly let me know. Thank you.

We stayed there our wedding night and the following night, it could not have been better. Ease of check in, they let us check in early and check out late. The view, the grounds, the lobby, the entire place is like a palace and worth every penny - which we felt was very reasonable given the experience. Highly recommend

This was our first trip to Hawaii. From the split second we arrived, we had an immediate welcome from the Valet, Bellhop and check-in Assistant - all at once. We were checked-in, car whisked away, and bags taken care of seemingly within 2 minutes, and were led to our room by the Bellhop. The 'journey' to our room (it is a vast property) was full of head turns this way and that catching "wow" views of the ocean, indoor/open-air gardens & reflection pools, and peaks at the incredible lush gardens of the property. The room was excellent; spacious, small fridge/coffee bar, HUGE bathroom with deep garden tub AND separate/large shower, and the balcony had amazing views of the property exterior gardens, and was great that it had high quality, comfortable cushioned balcony furniture (rather than the typical cheap hotel stuff). Now, the property itself...........awe inspiring. Paths meander around the whole exterior, where you're constantly surrounded by water pools, or trickling little streams or small waterfalls, or lush trees/plants/flowers, or any of the numbers of property swimming pools with just beatiful views everywhere you look. There's so many pools, many on different levels with mini easy-going water-slides taking you from one to the other. Also a lazy river and really cool swim-up bar (chat with Richie.......super friendly bartender!). Great for kids too with a pool that has a rope swing, plus some other intermediate and more aggressive water slides (including a WATER elevator - you'll just have to see it to understand). The property boasts many food/beverage options with various restaurants. We tried the "Amasia" restaurant for some late-evening small plates, and service/food was super. All the staff we came across were extremely helpful and friendly. The property is in a perfect location right on Wailea Beach. Overall, we felt like in Paradise and could've stayed forever. One of the best resorts/hotels we've stayed at. Comes with a high price for sure, but if you can swing it, i personally didn't see a better hotel/resort on the island.

Aloha,

Thank you for the 5 star review. We are so happy to read that you had a wonderful time.

We will be sure to share this review with Richie. We are certainly lucky to have him all these years. He is mentioned by name in reviews more than any other employee and I can't think of a single time someone has made a complaint about Richie. He really is a jewel and is an ambassador of True Waldorf Astoria Values and Service. We hope you'll be back to say hello to him one day.

Warmest aloha!
