WE loved this place- great people, and dreadfully great gnomes. We didn't have time to eat here, but would have loved to and the cocktails were great, and we made unripe mango salad in their kitchen!!

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed March 13, 2013

We visited this paladar for lunch on the Lonely Planet recommendation, and I'm pleased we did. The food (not cheap, but LP readers get a small discount) was fresh and delicious, the staff were professional and attentive, and it has a nice ambiance - we enjoyed a cocktail in the garden afterwards. A lovely way to spend an afternoon.

“Simple, well cooked food. Recommended.”
Reviewed February 17, 2013

Went here on the recommendation of the guidebook and it didn't disappoint. Simple, well cooked, fresh food with good service. Best meal out we had in Cuba. Oh, and they also top up your cocktail with rum if you like it a bit stronger.

“Best in Cienfuegos”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

The Aché started as a small family paladar of one room a little over a decade ago and has become the best restaurant in the city of Cienfuegos. Located near where the lovely Prado becomes the striking Malecón, it is now a garden-style restaurant under a Cuban tile roof that is cool in summer and warm in winter. The staff are friendly and efficient as is the couple who have made it what it is, delightful hosts for a meal of almost anything traditional on the island. The Piña Colada is perhaps the best in the country as are the mariquitas (fried plantain chips, served hot here), and you will feel fully in the Caribbean when you eat there. Always a pleasant experience with meals that are well cooked and plentiful. Highly recommended.

“Fastest service ever!”
Reviewed February 9, 2013

Yes: the service is way faster than almost any other restaurant you'll ever visit in your whole life. So fast that entries and main courses came together. I suggest having some drinks before order, or you won't have time to chat and when you do, you'll be already full and feeling sleepy. The crew is very nice, as well. English is spoken. Good price average for the quality (both mains we ordered were really well prepared, with shrimps as the highlight). And another thing that I found quite curious: after ordering mojitos, they brought them and the waiter also had a 'botella' of Havana Club, 'in case you don't like barman's previous mix': they will pour some more on your glass. Funny, but I liked it.
