We stayed here for 2 nights in April 2012, very nice rooms, nice terrace with fantastic view of the Cienfuegos bay.
A bit sterile atmosphere, not much contact to the hosts.
You feel more in a hotel than in a casa.
Dinner on the terrace, you get a menu like in a restaurant.
Fantastic food, but a bit more pricy than in the other casas we stayed.

We stayed in this lovely Casa Particular for two nights and enjoyed most the great location directly on the sea. There is a terrace which you only have to share with the guests of the second room. We had breakfast and once also dinner in the Casa. The food was really good. Our room was huge and painted so colorful. It was clean, we had a separate shower. The Casa Particular is in walking distance to the little city. The only thing we didn't like so much was the noise in the night. There is a night club around the corner and a dog who obviously likes to bake in the night. Anyway, I would definitely go back.

Hostal Bahia is immaculate, with two very large rooms which open on a private balcony. The rooms have all of the amenities of a small hotel including satellite tv, audio equipment, a safe, bar fridge etc. The view from the balcony terrific, and it is a pleasant place to lounge or eat dinner. The meals are excellent, with considerable variety. The hostal tends to be slightly more expensive but is good value considering the unique location and the services offered.

The hosts, Diana and Omar are very accommodating and friendly, but speak little English.

Diana and Omar run a gorgeous and very high standard Casa. It was definitely the smartest (and most expensive) we stayed in in Cuba. The two guest rooms are slightly separated from the rest of the house and have their own balcony which make for nice privacy. They are clean and well equipped with stocked fridges in the rooms, which was a lovely touch. the view is directly over the bay and because you are a floor up it's quite fun to sit there and watch the nightky Malecon romances and sunsets.
the only downsides here are the fact that, because neither Diana or Omar can speak English it is hard to ask their advice, and they didn;t try too hard to overcome the language barrier. Secondly, and this isn;t something they can do anything about, there is a horribly loud open air disco a few doors away which pumps out terrible music into teh early hours. Still..I think thsi is the case for much of Punta Gorda.
