We came to Cienfuegos as part of a Jewish Mission to Cuba. We visited the home the the president of the Jewish community..saw where the community comes together..no Rabbi, no Shul, no Torah..just a home where people gather for festive holiday meals, prayers, etc. That was a fascinating learning experience..then we visited the Jose Marti Plaza, which of course, has a statue of him. The square was surrounded by a government building, stores, and lots of people. There is also a side street that takes you past all kinds of vendors selling Cuban gifts and souvenirs..A nice treat. I think visiting the town and this square was very enlightening and gives you another view of Cuba..away from Havana..
