I've given this 3 stars and not 2 only because the grounds were lovely and the room comfortable. The staff service ran the gamut from: exceedingly polite to wanting-to-help-but-clueless to indifferent to AWOL. You just didn't know from hour to hour which brand of service would be on deck.
The food was generally OK but not the NYC-star chef quality billed by the resort. In fact, the star chef held court one evening at the outside bar and bellowed to all cocktail swillers that "the only way to run a restaurant is to cut costs". While that may be true, it's not what one wants to hear while relaxing over a G&T and paying 5-star prices. This type of faux pas was symptomatic of the rather chaotic operation being run.
This was our first time in PR, don't know if this is a reflection of local staffing quality, I hope not.
