Spirit Rock Conservation Area
Reviewed July 26, 2014

Got to Spirit Rock area, found the ruins. Pretty cool. Then, when we asked people where the red staircase was, everyone would say, 5 minutes that way. So, what is confusing is when you come to a 3 way path. Left path has white marker. Right path has blue marker. Straight ahead was the red staircase down, which, I wish we had have seen this because it could have saved us a lot of crying from my 4 year old daughter when we went down the blue path, thinking it was only a few minutes ahead and realizing it was the wrong way and we had to back track our path. We felt rather dumb because even another hiker said, go down the white path. We went down this one too and still couldn't find it. Anyway. Eventually we came back and found the red staircase but this was only after an hour of hiking in the wrong direction. It is marked very poorly. Still fun but by the time we found it, we were too exhausted to enjoy it. How frustrating.

we usually visit this place in the Fall. Colors are fab. for the "brave" there is a stairway down to the waters edge at the back of the property. I've never had the nerve to go down them, but a friend of mine braved it and she said it was worth the hike down the steps.
