The Bedford isn’t exactly that old nostalgic hotel that someone dumped millions of dollars into. But it does have class and charm. Having been to Goderich dozens of times I somewhat know what to expect and what I shouldn’t. If you’re looking for the fast paced cookie cutter city full of things to do and historical hotels remodeled with endless budgets then just keep heading east to Toronto. Goderich is probably the most beautiful and laid back town you’re ever going to visit and the Bedford just kind of fits in well. It’s right on one of the corners on the square and makes you feel like you just stepped back to the 30’s. The grand stair case is beautiful but if you can’t handle the climb every day then head up to the Cedar Lodge. It’s a great 2 night stop on your week long vacation but not the kind of place you’re going to want to stay 7 nights in. If Goderich brought in a billion dollars in tourism then I’m sure the Bedford would be much nicer, but then again nothing else would be as it is. Goderich has an old world feel and you need to get your mind right before you arrive or you could be disappointed.
