I just wanna talk about the bar you add a few cigars and go back however many years you could just imagine Hemingway and F Scott in a smoke filled room discussing all kinds of different things if I had a bar like that close to me Id be there 5 nights a week. Just the conversation you have with real people

Before we left for Nova Scotia we looked at the Lane's website and Trip Advisor. All the pictures of the rooms looked comfortable and clean. After a ten hour drive from the north part of the Province in heavy downpours, we were looking forward to our room for the night at Lane's. What we got was disappointing. Our room, while roomy, had stains on the carpet, the bed was in a nook with pipes overhead, the furniture and curtains were old and tired looking and all night long we were subject to the music and noise from the bar coming up as we tried to sleep. This went on past 11 to somewhere around 1 a.m. As the patrons of the bar got outside they decided to hang around in the lot which our window faced and laugh and joke until the early hours. Needless to say we got no rest. The food was bland and not memorable. If you book this place ask for a room where its quiet and eat out.

Room Tip: Find a room online that looks like what you want and ASK for it. DO not take a room by the parking l...

I stopped there on my driving around Nova Scotia and the location is very good. The room was comfortable even if not excellent but the peolple were all very nice and very helpful. The big garden by the river it's very nice. I like the restaurant area with a gourmet shop and the little library. Maybe a little bit overpriced for what it is but still was the best deal in the area.

We discovered the inn last year on our way from Nova Scotia's South Shore to the Annapolis Valley. We love the park-like grounds on the Mersey River (plenty of room to throw the ball for our little dog), the location that is walking distance to the main street of Liverpool, our comfortable room, and the friendliness of all the personnel. One of the housekeeping staff gave us a lot of insight into the workings of the huge ships moored by the bridge. So we returned again this year to once again experience all the things we liked about the inn. Did I mention the wonderful breakfast that's included in the price of the room? The fish cakes, baked beans, brown bread, and chow chow are delicious! Sitting at the round corner table in the bookstore part of the dining room improves the experience, if that's possible. Once again I found great cards and a good book during the short wait for our breakfast. Thanks to the 3rd generation Lane family that's running the 1798 inn. We hope to make our stay there an annual event and would definitely recommend it to others!

This hotel was very comfortable. The building has a very interesting past and it's in a very central location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the morning was delicious. I would definitely recommend hotel for a stay in Liverpool.

There is not much going on here. The hotel is basic and a little rough. The carpet in our room was stained and there were cobwebs in the corners. The pullout bed was more uncomfortable than most. The location of the hotel is prime, providing a great view of the Mersey river with green space for sitting in Adirondack chairs. Another plus is the restaurant and pub connected to the hotel which has reasonable prices and fine food.

What a lovely historic inn. Nice property along the river. Room had a bit of a musty smell but was otherwise comfortable. Enjoyed a nice relaxed dinner on the patio. Food was excellent and recommend wine was perfect. Had a very tasty and filling breakfast before we continued our travels. Staff were all very pleasant and friendly.

If you have time, take a tour of the Sherman Hines Photography Museum while in town. I tagged along reluctantly but enjoyed it, much to my surprise. :)
