I was looking for a quick get-a-way for me and my 2 pups. I needed some quiet time just to relax from everyday life. This was just what the doctor ordered. Not only were my dogs welcome but we able to just sit back and enjoy our beautiful weekend. And to top it off, breakfast was so great. Ron & Eleanor made it so that you felt you were eating with family. If your looking for a nice get-a-way with some really great people, come to the Devereaux Shields House. I even left my charger and they mailed it to me!

We stayed in the main house and had an excellent stay, we plan to go back., maybe next fall. We enjoyed being able to walk every where we wanted to go. Ron and Elanor are very gracious hosts and were very quick to get anything we needed and, of course, the food was great.

We loved staying here. The proprieters were awesome. Loved Ron and Eleanor. We stayed in the "Aunt Clara's cottage", not in the main house. Loved it! Ron and Eleanor made us feel like family. All amenities we would need were provided. We felt like we'd come home to family. great breakfast wonderful hosting and nice rooms. I strongly recommend this place. Wonderful Christmas breakfast. AND if u need to know anything about Natchez the hosts will gladly help u with the info. Stay here and you won't be sorry!!!

Devereaux Shields B&B is in a delighful corner of Natchez. The gardens were well kept and the appearance and maintenance of the house were in keeping with all the other elegant properties in the area. There were nice additional touches such as a hot drinks dispenser and snacks. The veranda offered a lovely opportunity to sit outside on a sunny day to watch the world go by . Ron, the proprietor, was genuinely warm and friendly, armed with all the local information we needed. We especially appreciated his tips about the Candlelight tour at Stanton Hall and helped us set up visit to a nearby cotton plantation called Frogmore - highly recommended. His recommendations to dine at the (haunted) Kings Arms, the Bistro and Cotton Cafe were spot on. Breakfast was wonderful with a different menu each of the three days we were there. It was nice to share a table with the other guests and learn about their adventures. We had a wonderful three days in Natchez and thoroughly recommend staying at Devereaux Shields House.

The Fry family does a wonderful job of maintaining this fabulous home. We stayed in Aunt Clara's Cottage, and the home was so welcoming and relaxing. Breakfast was fantastic each morning and totally indicative of southern cuisine. I can't wait to stay here again next year when we have our conference again!
