We were in Natchez on a Monday evening and with most restaurants closed we decided to go to the Pearl Street Pasta Restaurant.

We had the strangest waiter ever, and wondered if he was on a different planet from us. He got our order completely wrong and forgot the water and drinks. It was obvious that something was wrong that night as our waiter disappeared and someone else took over. We weren't the only ones having a problem with service as the same happened to guests either side of us.

The food was good and plentiful, shame about the service

With the décor and the black-shirted waiters and the quality of the food, you could have kidded me into thinking I was in Rome again. Serious reverence for chicken and parmesan, angel hair, sour cream and just the right amount of pepper, mushrooms. It can all taste like cardboard...but here a cook is on duty and the waiters are proud of the product, know very well that you will be happy. We two with no drinks $35, but a permanent memory. I took notes so I will try recreating this at home.

Take out available to savvy locals!

Got takeout on Friday,May 2 at lunch and reheated for dinner at our campsite that evening at Clear Springs Campground (Spinach Lasagna and Pasta Primavera)....it was awesome! Told the gentleman at the entrance working the crossword puzzle that I was from Jackson and was spoiled w Amerigos takeout (it's soooo good). He laughed and said "let's hope ours is just as good !"....and it was! Had Slick Rick's Portabella Mushroom wrap for lunch and Pearl Street for dinner.....a great Natchez eating experience ! Gonna try Cotton Alley next trip!

We checked into the Eola hotel - a fine example of the grand hotels of yesteryear. It was first opened in 1927 and while it has had it ups and downs, it has been nicely restored. We have a view of the Mississippi River from the balcony of our 7th floor room.

We walked down the street to have dinner at Pearl Street Pasta, a nicely appointed place in an old downtown structure. We liked the ambience, the food, the service and the prices. Joan enjoyed her scampi (sauteed shrimp with garlic, red bell pepper, Roma tomatoes & scallions over whole grain pasta. And I thought my “Pearl Street Pasta” was great as well (a grilled chicken breast with pearl onions and mushrooms over angel hair pasta with a seasoned cream sauce).

With tax and gratuity, fifty dollars.

There was nothing I disliked, Great! Pasta was very good and the service was excellent. Very cozy atmosphere and within walking distance from the Rising Sun Bed and Breakfast.
