Moved to tears from the amazing beauty of the basilica. We were met by a friendly gentleman who directed us to the self guided tour pamphlet. He told us animated stories of the happenings of Natchez. As we walked through the church the light shone through each of the beautiful windows one at a time. A moving experience all together.

If you can make sure you go inside this magical church. It is just beautiful inside. We went during mass on Sunday morning.

No one should ever come to Natchez and not go to St Mary's. It is beautiful...a must see.The inside is as beautiful as any church we have seen in Europe!

Stopped in while walking downtown. It's open to the public most days, except during Mass. There is a beautiful courtyard next to it with statues and the grave of one of the original Bishops. The chapel is overwhelmingly marvelous. Be sure to take your time and see each of the paintings around the rooms detailing important scenes of the Crucifixion. The stained glass is also very interesting of their depictions of saints. You can donate a few cents or dollars and light a candle. It's very stoic and makes one want to spend several minutes in prayer. Highly recommend.

One of the more important attractions in the Natchez area. Photo-worthy, colorful church. Recommendd.

The Basilica was built in the early 1840's. Spires and stained-glass windows are the main attraction for a visiting non Catholic. Big deal for here, modest by many measures to many we have seen in Europe. My guess is seating for about 500!

I marvel at the architecture of this place. How did they create such a wonderful place of worship so long ago? St. Mary is a must see when traveling on the Natchez Trace or in the Natchez, Vidalia or Miss-Lou area. Spectacular in this historical river city, you will be awed by the simple beauty of the interior. Remember it is still a place of worship. Enjoy this knowing that Natchez is 4 years older than New Orleans.

St. Mary's was absolutely breathtaking. Actually a Minor Basilica now, this once magnificent Gothic Cathedral, has stood solidly in historic Natchez, Mississippi, since 1842. Well worth stepping inside to admire.
