“We ALL Scraped the Bottom with Our Spoons”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 30, 2012

Oh my goodness....The Malt Shop makes a MEAN malt. We are from Georgia, Tennessee and California and it was SOOOOO good. Go. I don't care if you are on a diet. Break it. Just this once. Enough said.

PS. Bring a blanket or stay in the car. The only seating is outside.

“Disappointed”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 27, 2012

We went to this restaurant this morning knowing it was the #1 reviewed restaurant in Natchez. Granted, it didn't have as many votes as some of the other restaurants, but we were excited to get some good, affordable food.

First, the service was lackluster. The girl at the window never said "hello" or any other welcoming remark. We asked her which burger was their best seller, since there were several to chose from. She stopped, turned around and asked the girl behind her what thir best seller was. The other girl shrugged, so she said, "I couldn't tell you what our best seller is". Ok, that didn't put us off too much, but she was never welcoming in taking our order.

After 30 minutes of waiting outside in the freezing cold for 2 burgers, one hot dog, one order of fries and onion rings, and one banana malt, we loaded up in our warm car to eat our food. The burgers were just average. There was nothing spectacular about them, and frankly, I could have had a similar burger at Dairy Queen or Sonic. Same could be said for the fries and onion rings. The banana malt was yummy, but given our disappointment, it didn't wow us.

For someone traveling out of town and making a special stop to get a nice bite to eat, this isn't the place. For a local looking for some warm, cheap food... I could see where this might have some appeal.

Needless to say, we won't be eating here again. And that girl at the window needs to get some southern manners. You greet your customers and at the very least say hello to them. And when someone is trying to have a polite exchange with you, don't shrug them off. They may go write a review about you.

“Cooking with flavor”

I tried the fish plate and hamburger; both tasted very good. The cook knew just how to season the food.

“Quaint and a great malt”

Service with a smile, cash only, and a chocolate malt like no other. Menu appeared to be extensive, but I only had a malt.

“There's no Malt-ernative in Natchez”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2012

After several lacklustre hamburger experiences in mississippi and tennessee we visited the malt shop on a quiet Tuesday afternoon. The burgers - deluxe cheeseburgers in our case - were sensationally good and tasted like an upmarket Big Mac. The shakes were also great, the banana shake was made with fresh bananas. Fries were also good.

Don't let the appearance of the place put you off (and note that this is essentially a drive-thru with one picnic table outside), just go there. You won't regret it.
