We stopped here while in the area. We did not take the tour of the mansion but did roam the grounds which were beautiful. The main house was undergoing some rehab work so picture taking wasn't possible without getting some police yellow tape, scaffolding or orange fencing in the picture.

If you are planning a visit to Natchez, you certainly have many choices of historic homes to visit. Through the years, I have visited many of these homes. What I found most impressive about Melrose is that almost all of the furnings and fixtures are original to the house. It is a beautiful home, surrounded by equally alluring landscape.
