Normally they have a two-night minimum, but was able to stay one night by calling. I was also upgraded to a Junior King Suite on the second floor. The room had a small sitting area, a large bathroom (including a large soaking tub), and a comfortable king bed. I went for a 4 mile sunset walk along the SF Bay Trail that runs right in front of the hotel. I missed the wine/cheese, but the breakfast buffet was nicer than most with specialty pastries, much fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, waffles, oatmeal, yogurt, bagels and a variety of drinks all in a room with a view. I could not hear the freeway (but there are at least two rooms that face the road). There are two nice restaurants within walking distance (Piatti & Robata Grill & Sushi). Every staff member was very nice.

Room Tip: Third floor would be best. Avoid rooms facing the freeway.

Hotel was everything I was expecting and more. Room was very clean and comfortable and the view was great. Afternoon wine and cheese was a nice touch and the complimentary bicycles were great to ride around the area which is very bike friendly. The highway was right on the back of the hotel and is a constant hum throughout the day and night. Complimentary breakfast was very good...I was impressed.

Far exceeded our expectations. Temperature control was excellent as was the in room lighting. Afternoon wine and cheese was a nice plus as was the beautiful breakfast. Do not stay in any of the SE corner rooms due to highway noise.

Room Tip: SW end 3rd floor room great for view

So, as usual it was cold in the SF area, but this place was great. Right by the water (and the high way) and a short drive to Muir National Monument, where we did a 3 hour hike through the Redwoods, which was stunning. Nice slick modern room with great view of the water, and our own wood stove (which was helpful, cause it was cool at night). Great brekkie buffet but NO food or room service and it wasn't easy to find anything in the evening besides some Dominos Pizza.

We stayed at the Acqua Hotel the first night that we flew to San Francisco. We were heading up to Napa but wanted to see Muir Woods first. This hotel is near the highway as most hotels are in the particular area, but the traffic noise was not bad during the night. There is a glass enclosed hallway between the doors which eliminated some of the noise. You could hear the morning rush hour start, but we were planning to get up early and get to Muir Woods before the park opened. Our rooms were very clean and nicely furnished. They served wine, cheese & fruit in the afternoon in the attractive lobby. There is a nice outside patio and upper deck and a path going around the water in the back. Breakfast was adequate. It looked as though they may serve eggs, but we left before they came out. Belgian waffles, oatmeal, cold cereals and various pastries & fruit were available during the early morning hour. Our plane came in mid-morning so we had lunch in Sausalito and went to the Marin Headlands before checking in. We would highly recommend going to Marin Headlands to get great views of the Golden Gate Bridge with San Francisco in the background. There are several observation lots and some nice trails in this park. We were happy to get to Muir Woods early enough to get one of the close parking spaces. There is VERY limited parking there, so it was nice to be in a hotel close enough to not have to fight traffic to get there. We would recommend this hotel for our purpose. If you are visiting San Francisco and don’t want to pay for parking or the higher prices of hotels there, this would be a good location for staying just outside of San Francisco.

This place is a real gem, just across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco. We had a first floor room with a patio, facing the bay/lake and the mountains. The view was amazing. We spent hours, lounging on the patio, relaxing and watching people and dogs walk by on the path by the edge of the lake. Our room was extremely clean and modern - and, it had a small living room area just off of the entryway - a very nice place to relax in the evenings. The bathroom was very clean and modern - as good as any four star hotel in San Francisco. Best of all, the front desk staff went out of their way to make sure that we had a perfect stay. From offering a glass of wine at check-in to providing diverse and upscale breakfast offerings, they continually exceeded our expectations. Like at a five star resort, they knew our names from the moment that we checked in and greeted us by name as we entered and left the hotel - a very nice touch. The only caution I have to report is finding the hotel - it is easy to miss the exit from the freeway - and, when you get off, it can be difficult to find the hotel if you're heading south because you have to go around the point of the peninsula and come back up toward the hotel - best to use a detailed map program to find this place. But, once you're there, going in and out becomes second-nature. My best recommendation - take advantage of the great walking trails that are right outside of the hotel (in the back) - especially at night when the sun is setting.

Room Tip: We liked the ground floor because you get a private patio, overlooking the lake/bay area - and, you...

This hotel was conveniently close to both downtown San Francisco and the Napa Valley, and looks out onto the water. We stayed in the upstairs suite, and it was very nice. The breakfast served was really good as well, in addition to the wine and cheese reception. One minor flaw - a chair in the living room area was kind of stained, but we didn't need to sit on it anyway. We would probably stay here again.
