“Don't Stay Here!!!”
Reviewed September 8, 2008

I came to Sausalito on business and chose to save a little money and be close to where I needed to work as well. This was a terrible experience overall. A list would probably be the easiest...This room had the bare minimum of necessities...a coffee maker...no fridge or microwave. I had a gala event to attend and brought some expensive jewelry, so I needed a working safe (I checked ahead to make certain they had one). When I arrived, the safe was locked and the handyman couldn't open it with the tool that was supposed to do that. The safe had to be completely replaced. That took two days. The gasket to the shower door was peeling off and hanging, so the door wouldn't fully close - water on the floor every time I showered. The sink was stopped up from the beginning, and despite promises, was never fixed. The wifi, which I needed for my business, was off and on...I was given the phone number to the internet service they used and expected to take care of the problem myself. The internet tech seemed annoyed at the calls. The two people who were the most helpful were desk staff - Octavia and O'Shea - but they were powerless to get the things fixed that needed fixing. The handyman was the only one available and was stretched to the max of his capabilities if most of the other rooms were in the state of disrepair that mine was. If I had known another reasonably priced hotel to move to, I would have. So - my advice is to research the area and find any other hotel than this one.

Wish I had checked out the room before paying for it. The place is pretty run down. Room 20's door molding left about 1/8" between the door and frame. After walking from the bathroom into the bedroom and back into the bathroom, the bottom of my feet were so soiled that I was leaving tracks on the tile in the bathroom. The wallpaper is pealing off the walls, the tile in the bathroom is in need of cleaning and grout... The motel is on 101highway's frontage road.. Leave the TV on to drown out the traffic.

For a budget hotel (and around S.F. that means $100/night), I expect a clean small room, probably tacky in decor with cheap foam pillows and a polyester bed spread. The Travelodge in Mill Valley was all that, and unfortunately, more.

I'll cut to the chase: there was sand in our sheets when we climbed in for the night and in the bathroom there was black mold spores spotting the highest corners of the room and on the bathroom window sill.

The place just felt run down and uncared for beyond the very basics - for example, the wall paper was peeling in the bathroom along the seams.

Cough up $20-$30 more and stay at the Holiday Inn Express up the road. I wish I had!

This was just a place to stay. That was all. It was close to where we wanted to be the next morning. The bathroom window was frosted glass but accessible from the outside. There was no curtain. Someone could try and look in if they wanted too. There were unopened mini wine bottle out that window so it looks like someone was hiding booze behind the building. The shower floor was dirty and they put a mat over it (which was starting to fall apart)

Pros:
- decent price
- staff was friendly

Cons:
- dirty shower floor
- privacy issues with the frosted bathroom window
- inconsistent Wi-Fi
- small room
- easy to hear the occupants of the adjacent rooms.

I know you get what you pay for, and this time it was so true. This hotel is right next to the freeway, so you can hear it very clearly in your room. The hotel staff was okay at check in. The breakfast provided ran out well before the cutoff time, go early! The room was probably a gem in its heyday, but is very rundown now. The matress stuffing was spilling out, 1/2 the lamps in the room didn't work, the interior needs paint and new carpet and the bathroom was very moldy. We paid for the room with a jacuzzi, but upon close inspection, decided againt using it as you could clearly see debris on the jets. We were on the 2nd floor and the floor was very creaky so we stepped lightly to be nice to the folks below us. I recommend this hotel for it's price and location, but know it is on it's last leg. The location is convenient to stay while visiting the north bay. Make sure you map your route to the hotel as getting there traveling north on 101 is kinda tricky, especially if it's dark and you are tired like we were!

This stay was disappointing because we are seniors and were put in an upstairs room that was the smallest the motel offered. We had made the reservation 6 weeks ahead so there was no excuse for this in April. The staff was abrupt and unaccommodating. The continental breakfast danish ran out well before the time for the breakfast was over and was not replenished. The mattress springs made noises and poked at you while you slept.

Quite expensive for a noisy, badly appointed and rude hotel. The only saving grace was the india restaurant at the front. A colleage travelling had an even worse experience with broken doors and hairdryers. The lady at the front desk requested I walk back to my room to call a cab because she couldn't.....Only if you cannot get anywhere else............
