We stayed at the Mountain Home Inn while attending a friends wedding in Stinson Beach. The ceremony was taking place on Mt Tam. The whole stay was fabulous. We stayed in room 9, and it was our first time to San Fran area. The Inn reminds me of ski inns in Vermont, it has a rustic east woods feel to it. The road there is extremely windy, and that was certainly not for me but the resort itself it gorgeous the views of the red woods are amazing as well as the city. The bartender and wait staff was great. Bryson was great helping us figure out the timing of when to leave for the wedding events. Also the breakfast is not to be missed. My parents are traveling to San Fran in a few months and have already recommended a nice, quiet, peaceful stay here. Would definitely love to stay again when we are in the area.

My husband and I had our intimate wedding reception at the Mountain Home Inn back in January. From our first encounter with Daniel 'till the day of our wedding, he was very welcoming, professional and accommodating. He allowed us a lot of flexibility and was very easy to work with. Daniel was very organized and efficient; he had a concise plan for our event, which really put us at ease, especially at times when our nerves were acting up. The day of our wedding, we had our ceremony outdoors along Mt. Tam.. When my groom and I arrived and ready to celebrate, we were greeted by attentive staff, delicious appetizers and our wonderful friends and family! We were blown away by the way our dining room turned out; the look, everything! It was MORE than we could have ever asked for and far exceeded our expectations. Daniel and his staff made our vision come to life! It brought a tear to my eye! The dinner was fantastic, every single guest enjoyed their meal, dessert was delicious, the staff was excellent, they are extremely kid friendly and we were given all the time in the world to enjoy our evening.

We stayed a total of two nights and honestly, looking back, we wish we would have stayed longer. Our room was perfect; beautiful view, spa tub, fireplace and an above average complimentary breakfast in the morning! We're not talking about English muffins and Cheerios...we're talking to die for French toast, sausage and eggs galore!

Overall, as you can see, we had our dream wedding! It couldn't have been any more perfect and much of that is in part because of Daniel and all of the staff at the Mountain Home Inn. With much fondness, we will be back again and again for many years to come! Thank you Mountain Home Inn!!

My wife and I stayed for one night here to celebrate our birthdays which are 1 week apart. When we booked a few weeks earlier the weather here in the Bay Area had been unseasonably warm and dry with threats of a drout. This wasn't the case when it came to our mini-vacay away from the city. The heavens opened and it tanked down. However this did nothing to spoil our special getaway together at Mountain Home Inn on the slopes of Mount Tamalpais...
Bryson was our point of contact here and was there to greet us when we walked in. He offered us a choice of rooms as there was a cancellation that day so we checked out Room 2 & 8. After much deliberation we decided to stick with our original room 8 which had a little more space despite not having the fireplace.
Once settled in, snuggling together watching the sheets of rain outside in a nice hot bath, we ventured upstairs for dinner. The roaring fireplace in the corner just adds to the ambiance! Bryson took care of our culinary needs offering advice on the menu which is a fixed-price 3 courser with a few specials to also consider. There is also a bar menu available. Food was delicious!
Bryson is a fountain of local knowledge and offered advice on hikes, restaurants etc which we will utilise next time when the heavens aren't opening as much. We really appreciated his time and customer service!
With a mouth watering breakfast menu to choose from (which is included as part of your room fee) you won't fail to feel at home and relax in this gem of a boutique B&B. And if you're visiting Mount Tam to hike, Mountain Home Inn is the perfect place to set up your base camp!

Last minute getaway, had a romantic dinner.
With the suggestions from staff we had the next day planned.
Breakfast was delicious with a gorgeous view.
Had the staff pack us a sack lunch for a beautiful hike up to east peak.
Expected nothing out of the ordinary but was pleasantly surprised!

Had a great one night stay at the Mountain Home Inn. The location and exceptional service cannot be beat. We took a hike on the back side of Muir woods, then relaxed on the terrace with a drink watching an amazing sunset . The rooms are a little dated and in need of some care. No TVs in the rooms but we had a fireplace which was better than a TV.

First of all, the folks at the Mountain Home Inn are just great. Super friendly and accommodating.

Now for the bad news - I think this place was last renovated in oh, like 1980 or so, as the photos I am attaching will show. We had a super expensive "view" room without a view; our wall had nail holes in the wall (WTH?), we woke up to a WORM in our bed; when it rained, the roof leaked immensely in our room and elsewhere (no $ accommodation for that); there was mold and peeling caulk in the bathroom which was super odd (had a jacuzzi tub but you had to get into the tub to even turn the shower on - so of course you get ice cold water on your back).

BEST location to hike from, that's for sure - but as a previous review stated, "location, location, location only goes so far." This hotel is booked up constantly, and it just can't be because folks are coming back. It has to be because it's an easy drive from San Francisco, and has SUCH great access to hiking/biking trails. But the price is ridiculous for what you get. I'm so sad to be a complainer, as this hotel is in our back yard - if we had had a better experience, we'd likely frequent it a lot more often.

Room Tip: Do NOT pick the most expensive suite - the ceiling in there is going to come down any time now, as t...

We at the Mountain Home Inn would like to thank you for your warm and comforting comments on our staff, your compliments are appreciated and I have passed them onto the team. "Now for the bad news," I apologize for the leak due to the rain, fixing that leak has been a priority for me since recently taking the management position here at the Inn. We have sealed both parking and eating decks with a double coating of Epoxy which should eliminate the water problem.

Our housekeepers clean and work really hard to maintain our Inn, all linens are cleaned, folded, and put in their proper location daily. For a worm to be on your bed is embarrassing and unacceptable. I'm not to sure how the worm gained access to our Inn, but I do apologize for the inconvenience. As for the caulking, my maintenance man generally strips and replaces them multiple times a year, I have since asked him to do your room immediately.

We at the Mountain Home Inn would like the chance to make things right, please contact me so that I may do so. Have a nice day!

We stayed at Mountain Home Inn for the first two nights of our honeymoon. We wanted something more private and romantic. It was easy to get to from San Fran and easy to find. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised when we were told they were giving us a free upgrade to room 5. We think it is an upgrade bc it is more seclusive and there is a TV AND a fireplace. The inn in general is exactly what it is called- a mountain home inn-it is rustic and not polished, but well kept and clean (and we are pretty picky people). It was a little different than anything we'd ever stayed in, but we liked it. The views are beautiful. The breakfast is very good ("free" but a $5 per person gratuity is suggested). The bath products are Aveda which I liked. Overall we were pleased with our experience there. Muir woods is very very close and so is hiking on mt tamelpais. Stinson beach is 10-15 min away. Mill Valley is close (10-15min) and a cute little town. They don't serve dinner on Tuesday nights-if you find yourself in this situation drive 10-15 min to Buckeye Roadhouse- good food and nice atmosphere-we felt a little underdressed in jeans but no one seemed to mind.

Room Tip: we were in room 5, more secluded from the other rooms, nice balcony
