Yes, the room is beautiful & the food is well-priced (and the wine is astronomical), but now the Buckeye is a bit too big for its britches... despite having on site parking, customers pay for parking, the Buckeye has the exclusive distinction of being the only restaurant in Marin to charge for parking! And, I did not enjoy attitude from the valet either...so maybe the tourists will go for it, but not us locals.

Our dinner at the Buckeye Roadhouse last night was bad from start to finish. When we arrived there was a line of cars waiting to valet park (which is no longer complimentary). Then there was standing room only while we waited 45 minutes for a table, eventhough we had a reservation. The drinks we had while we waited, which cost $10+ each, were so weak you couldn't even taste any alcohol. After we were finally seated it took over an hour from when the appetizer plates were cleared to get our main courses, which were cold & soggy so tasted bad even after being returned to the kitchen. We didn't want to sit there any longer so declined the free desserts the mngr offered (as if that would compensate us for the horrible food, service and drinks). In fact, our dining experience at the Buckeye Roadhouse was so bad it would have been unpleasant even if it was free.

Several people had given us recommendations for this restaurant. We did not enjoy it at all. Incredibly noisy, food OK, service OK. Don't want to sit down to a nice dinner and be unable to hold a conversation across the table. Had to pay three dollars to park in their own lot.

this was back a few months ago, to be fair because I don't know if the same staff is there, but we came in , we had a reservation, and the hostess kept us waiting for quite a long time while she took phonecalls for reservations. this was a special celebration dinner. When we finally got seated, we again waited till we finally got a waiter to take our order for drinks. It seemed like a long time before we finally got water , we had to ask twice for it. The food was excellent, good Champagne, etc. but just because they are always busy doesn't mean they should treat their customers so rudely. We have not been back since, though we had come their several times prior, and this was the worst service of all the times. None of which had really attentive great service, except for once.

This is a hopping place, and no wonder. The food is wonderful, as are the drinks. The restaurant itself looks like an old-style men's club and has a very comfortable feel, with lots of leather and wood. Even though the place was packed, our server was friendly and very efficient. We enjoyed our filets and will return to Buckeye Roadhouse should we find ourselves in Mill Valley again.
