I don't know how you Bay Area residents do it...you have so many fabulous restaurants to choose from when you decide to go out to dinner! While in Mill Valley though, my husband and I, from the Columbus, Ohio area chose The Buckeye Roadhouse. We thought it might have been established by transplanted Ohio State University alum, but no, this "Buckeye" Roadhouse is a long standing tradition in the north Bay Area. Nary an piece of Ohio State memorabilia on the wall! But no matter, The Buckeye Roadhouse is a warm, inviting restaurant with a large fireplace in the main dining room, wood paneling everywhere, a balcony dining area and leather booths.
We had reservations and were seated immediately. My husband and I don't like raw oysters and we were delighted to find one of the specialties of the house was "Oysters Bingo" which are oysters baked in the shell with spinach and a wonderful cheese sauce! We loved the grilled artichoke with the fabulous tarragon dipping sauce! We highly recommend both appetizers!
My husband had one of the best pork chops he's ever been served in a restaurant, grilled to perfection, succulent! I had the daily feature of sautéed California halibut with snap peas! Delicious!
For dessert we had to try the S'mores Pie. We agree that this is one of the best desserts we've ever tasted. The marshmallow meringue tasted like marshmallows roasted over a campfire...Yum!
When in the Bay Area, The Buckeye Roadhouse will certainly merit a return visit!
