Owner description: Your Muir Woods Tour begins in your hotel lobby. You will be picked up at 7:30 AM, any day of the week or weekend, by private carrier. On the drive from your San Francisco hotel, take in spectacular Pacific Ocean & San Francisco Bay vistas. Your fully escorted walking tour will be on well maintained trails with easy grades, away from crowds, for three full hours. You will experience the rare morning serenity of an ancient redwood forest. The indiginous flora and fauna will unfold before you as you explore these peaceful woods in a way that isn't possible without Tom as your guide. See indigenous wildlife and enjoy conversation with Tom, a long standing Sierra Club leader. Absorb his rich knowledge of the flora & fauna of this unique ecosystem, the Redwoods themselves, Indian customs, park and local history and folklore. Tom is here to give you a glimpse into the life of the forest, not to steer you to the gift shop or hurry you along. Don't be shy, ask Tom any questions you like as you amble along the paths. He will astound you with his knowledge. Tom walks with you all the way through the park at your pace, pointing out every fascinating aspect and facet of the park and the magnificent Redwood trees that have survived here for hundreds of years. The walking tour covers 2 to 4 miles inside the Muir Woods forest, depending on your pace. This a very small group tour and Tom even provides drinking water, snacks and fruit juice. You and your party will be dropped off at the Sausalito Ferry, by private carrier, at the conclusion of your tour. Along the way you will see rolling hills, the town of Sausalito and more breathtaking San Francisco Bay vistas. The all inclusive fee of $75.00 also covers your Golden Gate Bridge Tolls and Park admission fees. There are no hidden extras! It really doesn't get better than this!

Tom was a fantastic guide! I throughly enjoyed walking through the woods and enjoyed Toms narration. I particularly enjoyed the picnic lunch at the top of the hill - a very pleasant spot to sit and talk and enjoy the company of the others on the tour surrounded by the majestic Redwoods. Ending the tour in Sausalito was good and the ferry back to San Francisco was a great way to see the bay! I made some great friends on this tour who I am still in contact with - Thanks Tom for a unique experience!

Just do it! The bus ride over the Golden Gate Bridge is worth the cost of the tour! As John our bus driver told us, muir said you should saunter not walk through the red woods! He was right, of course, and made all the difference. When you stop in Sausalito ask where to find the orange painted store that has the best fish and chips - and they matched those in newspaper from Northern England.

What an amazing example of God's beautiful creations! I feel the life in this forest. I loved the sounds, smells, & sights. This is the place to go for temporary relief from the busyness of this life. Take a wonderful break from the noise, hurry, & electronics and restore your peace in this breathtaking place.

My mom and I recently went on Tom's walking tour in Muir Woods. He picked us up at our hotel and we were at the park and on the trail early so we didn't have to deal with the crazy traffic or parking chaos. We really liked that he restricts the numbers so there were only 7 of us on the tour. He also provided an excellent lunch. Tom is very entertaining and informative and we enjoyed it immensely.

We took the Muir Woods Walking Tour on August 11. Tom Martell, the guide, met us in Union Square, an we proceeded from there. There were 7 of us on the tour. After a foggy drive across the Golden Gate Bridge, we entered the pristine beauty of Muir Woods. Tom's passion for the woods is evident throughout the tour. He provided so much interesting information about the trees, the wildlife and the history of the park. Being that the tour starts early in the morning, we were practically alone in the park, which added to the beauty of the woods. We hiked and then ate lunch in the most gorgeous of settings. This tour was the highlight of our SF trip. I highly recommend it!
