Owner description: Muir Woods has a rich and varied history, from its use by the Coast Miwok people, to its early days of tourism and the Mount Tamalpais Mill Valley Scenic Railway, to an era of conservation, to modern preservation. In each era, the forest has been affected by the actions of humans, for better or for worse. Part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, this coastal redwood preserve features majestic redwoods and scenic hiking trails that draw more than 1.5 million visitors each year.

Wow! What an amazing, tranquil place to visit. The redwoods are amazing. Take a leisurely walk through Muir Woods and you will develop a new appreciation for nature at its finest. Arrive early; there is not much parking and you may find yourself walking more than a mile just to get to the park.

The forest is very beautiful and peaceful... if you go early before everyone else arrives. The trees are majestic; a sight to see. I recommend arriving around 9am. Tour buses and shuttles will arrive a couple of hours later.

crowded place with limited free parking. Go early or take free shuttle on weekends. Areal treasure, and should not be missed

I enjoyed my trip here very much, if self guided you can take as much or as little time as you want. I really was in awe of the size of the trees here. Take time to learn about the area around the woods too..
