“Good food, good venue”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

We've eaten in Bar 44 in Penarth a couple of times, and have found it to be really good. Friendly and helpful service, quick food service (even when busy). Good drinks menu. Food menu a little limited but very tasty (if a bit too salty). Decent value for money. Will be going again!

“excellent afternoon”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

I went here with my boyfriend and loved the tapas selection. The cured meats were delicious and we had deep fried fish which was perfect, as someone who loves seafood. We were too stuffed with our mains but we did order coffees and the sangria sorbet which was interesting. I would really recommend this place for an afternoon rendezvous.

“Almost...”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

A second visit, this time booking a table for an evening visit.

On arrival, the requested confirmed window table booking had been amended to a different table. Actually not a problem as we were happy to be close to the kitchen, but could have been an issue.

The was taken and food arrived swiftly, given they were busy.

Food varied from very good to ok. The only ok dish was the griddled confit chicken that was a bit dull.

The table was cleared swiftly, and you couldn't help but feel that maybe they wanted to turn the table since they were busy.

Despite the niggles around service, I would revisit.

“Regular tapas eater!”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

I couldn't disagree more with the previous review, I think the decor is young, inviting and original, it's comfortable and stylish. I agree they could do with more tables but that's only because it is always so busy and buzzing which is testament to how good it is there, will defiantly be returning...........just hope I can get a table!!!!!

“nice...but”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

We met a couple of friends here for an informal early supper. They had already ordered so we chose three dishes and had a drink while we waited. The food was really good, (patatas bravas, ox cheek (not for me!) and a goats cheese with honey) but all the dishes arrived separately, ten minutes apart which didn't suit us. Our friends had all theirs together so they could pick at each dish which is how we think it should be. Its a very popular place but when it filled up a little we left to find somewhere we could actually hear one another talk. The idea of the place is excellent, just what Penarth needs, but I do think it has been furnished on the cheap when it could've been much more stylish/
