“Lovely meal, lovely staff”
Reviewed May 28, 2013 via mobile

We went as a group of ten on bank holiday Monday. The meal was lovely, well cooked and well presented. Good Italian restaurant standard, but not excellent. However it was only just under £200 for the ten of us so its excellent value. The house red is lovely and the tiramisu is perfect. The vanilla ice cream was sold to us as the best in Cardiff and we agreed.
The staff were really friendly and coped with our mixed group of ages and needs. Will definitely return.

“Fantastic!”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

Very friendly owner and staff who helped make it a special evening for us both which we wont forget.I planned to ask my partner to marry me near the sea and thought it would be an ideal location which it was after proposing on the sea front we were warmly welcomed and shown to our table near the window with a great view of the sea and lovely balloons there congratulating us from Balloon Platoon.
The menu had a wide selection on offer we both thought the meals were delicious! I would have to recommend the baileys cheesecake.
Thank you very much Romeo By The Sea for being the perfect place for a romantic meal!

“So disappointing”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

I have visited this restaurant over many years having seen it pass through a succession of owners. The food has always been pretty good, but its location has always made it a popular choice with diners.Having not been there recently my wife and I decided to give it a try on 10th April 2013.Being mid week only a few diners were present. We were welcomed warmly and service seemed attentive.
We ordered 2 very straightforward dishes;seafood calzone and spaghetti bolognese.
The calzone was filled with a variety of seafood although I was not expecting tinned tuna to be a major part of the filling.
My wife requested parmesan cheese which was clearly the packet variety and certainly not fresh.
Authentic Italian food always conjures up the promise of fresh ingredients and flavoursome dishes.I can only describe both meals as being a huge disappointment and an indication of an indifferent chef .This is basic fare for any Italian restaurant and there is no excuse for not producing such dishes to a high standard.Sadly won't be beating a path back there anytime soon !

“GREAT OLD FASHIONED ITALIAN RESTAURANT”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

This restaurant on the sea front in Penarth is a warm welcoming place where the service is top notch and the food even better!
All the usual favourites are on the menu and whilst it may be considered old school, it was refreshing to find well executed and perfectly cooked dishes which were simply to die for.
The only criticism that could be levelled was that the decor was a little dated and in need of an uprating. That said, it is without hesitation that I recommend this venue to you since I cannot see that anyone could be disappointed. Do try the house red and do get a taxi!

“Lovely! Incredible views, great staff, delicious food ONE complaint..”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

My cream was "off" oh noooo :-( ruined desert BUT we had weren't charged for it and the staff apologised profusely! We found it quite funny in the end as we were sooo looking forward to a tirimasu and... Wasn't happening! Haha! Never mind... The rest of the meal was exquisite! All was forgiven!

As we entered the restaurant, our first impressions were that the place was clean, tidy, a really welcoming atmosphere as we were greeted within seconds. We sat with a view of the sea, our table was well laid out and our waitress was lovely.

Our food was delicious. We've just returned from the south of sicily and it was like going back again! We were happy :-)

Perfect for a romantic meal, a dinner party or a casual mid-week jeans and a sweater type of place. It was very quiet when we went which suited us after a long day at work.

We shall be returning soon and definatley will give the tirimasu another shot haha!
