After visiting Mount Rushmore we stopped in Keystone, SD at the Ruby House Restaurant. My husband had the Country Fried Steak dinner and he really enjoyed that. I had the homemade creamy tomato soup and that was really great.

This restaurant is beautifully restored. It was a great experience to look back in time. Our waitress was the BEST. She handled a full luncheon crowd and didn't skip a beat.

We had lunch here one day between attractions. There is great Victorian decor literally all over the walls in this restaurant. Lots to look at throughout the restaurant. The service was relatively good, if not as friendly as we experienced in the area most of the time we were there. But the food was just okay. I had the special, a chicken salad sandwich on a croissant. It was mostly mayo and sweet pickles. The salad that accompanied it was nothing special, bag salad from the grocery store. My husband had the monte cristo. The batter on the sandwich was more the consistency of chicken fried steak than the light, fluffy batter you usually get on monte cristos. It did come with a delicious strawberry sauce, however. Not our favorite place to eat on our trip to the area.

Staff friendly and helpful. Food really good. Played great country music at just the right sound level so as not to interfere with conversation. Would recommend this lovely restaurant if you are in the area.

My wife and I spent a few days in Keystone and ate at the Ruby House 3 times, all were good meals with friendly service. Not gourmet but a cut above average in our experience, enough to see us repeat business in our stay. Recommended.

We had good food and plenty of it. I really enjoyed the chocolate lava cake. We spent extra time in there looking at all the pictures and decorations.
