The Powder House Lodge was an awesome surprise. We didn't have high expectations (not overly impressed with the photos on their website) but it far surpassed our expectations and then some!

The rooms were sooo much bigger than the photos portrayed. The rooms were nicely maintained when we arrived and continued to be nicely maintained while we were there.

Kudos to Powder House Lodge!

We were leary of the restaurant at first because it looked like a campground, not the great restaurant that it is. But we were very happy with the service and food! One of our best meals on our vacation! Great variety, helpful staff, wonderful place to dine.

Stopped here due to T.A. Reviews and they did NOT disappoint in any way! From the prime rib to the buffalo ribs (omg) to a simple chicken breast, it was SO good. Great waitress. Love hard working, caring college students! Wish we had had more meals here, without a doubt. Got there early and was told they're standing outside in no time. I believe it!

We're staying at the Powder Lodge campground and have eaten dinner at their restaurant several times during our stay. On each occasion the service was prompt, courteous and the food excellent. We tried their chicken cordon bleu, absolute tortellini, chicken parmesan and chicken alfredo - we can recommend all. Try either the pear & asiago or apple & gorgonzola salad in place of the regular house salad, very tasty.

I can't say enough about the restaurant. The selection of food was much more expansive than any nearby restaurants. We chose this based on the selection and reviews in TripAdvisor. Before the end of our meal on the first night, we decided we were returning the following night. Our waiter Toby, took care of making the reservation for us. He was fantastic both nights offering great suggestions and clearly knowing the menu well. There is a great selection to choose from for everyone. There were at least 12 items on the kid's menu, which is great if your kids like to try something different. The vegetarian section has at least 8 items, which is not the norm (I'm a pescatarian.). The back page of the menu has a huge list of their regular menu items that can be made gluten free. For everyone else, you have even more to choose from. Over the two nights, we tried many items: Crab-Stuffed Mushrooms, Mozzarella sticks, Walleye, Ribeye, Buffalo Short Ribs, Pear and Asiago Salad, Apple and Gorgonzola Salad, Vegetable Welington, Kids Cheese Tortellini, Grilled Cheese, and Kids Cheeseburger. All were great. The manager came by all tables both nights to ensure everything was to satisfaction. When arriving be patient. It may take a minute to find a place to park when busy. The hostess is very nice, just be patient if it takes a minute to get your name in when busy. It's definitely worth the wait.
